I saw this link:

scientology silent birth

The woman asserts that a silent birth doesn't mean the woman has to be silent, but that people around her refrain from talking. She can make all the noise she wants, but generally limit talking.

I have no clue about it all, being that I'm not a scientologist, I'm agnostic. It seems that people are really jumping on scientology's shit. I believe in freedom of religion. They are free to believe whatever they want (as ridiculous as it may seem to me personally) and it really has nothing to do with me. robot

I saw this link: murderers & this one assholes

The fact is, this "religion" only exists so that Hubbard could avoid being charged for practicing medicine without a license..

I tend to believe that any religion that requires members to sign a waiver allowing them to imprison you should you suffer a "psychotic break"(ie, be chemically imbalanced, bipolar, go insane, which under their guidelines could include such things as wanting to get the fuck out of their stupid assed cult), deprive you of medication and even the basic necessities for survival have overstepped the boundaries granted to the free practice of religion.

There is a reason almost every country in Europe and all of Mediterranean Africa kicked Hubbard and Scientology out of their land, because it is dangerous bullshit.

Edited to add: The main reason Hubbard chose to demonize psychology is because the American Psychological Association jumped on Dianetics and called it dangerous well before he had even developed it into a philosophy or a religion.

I can think of nothing that would make me go insane faster than being forced into absolute silence (without painkillers, I'm sure) during a prolonged moment of considerable pain.

As for the child going mad, I'd be more concerned about growing up around Tom fucking Cruise than being born in silence. surreal

I had my first child naturally and the room was quiet the whole time. I never yelled or got pissy with anyone so don't believe the TV hype. It's perfectly natural to be FINE during child birth and I think American media uses it as an excuse for a woman to be a drama queen even though the reality is that women have been doing it for thousands years w/o all the bs.

Like I said in a later post, I totally don't doubt that it's doable. I'm only against coercion of any sorts. It's certainly not required to make a sound, but I think it's within your rights if you should feel the need to.

Well, there's talk of the scientologists buying Neverland Ranch, so maybe we're in for a Branch Davidian style takedown.

Each labour and birth is different though. I do think TV over-dramatises it but some women have a relatively quick and easy time, others go through hell bringing that child in to the world and then there is everything in between. It depends on the person, her pregancy and those who are assisting her. Mine was natural too and wasn't too bad; I was in labour for 26 hours (not all hard labour, of course) and I didn't act like an arsehole to people either, but I couldn't help crying out in that final push. We may have been doing it for thousands of years but feeling yourself tear is still bloody painful.

Tom and Katie are also set to be strict parents. Scientologists are encouraged not to comfort or nurture young children because Hubbard believed a child is simply a small adult who can look forward to look after themselves from a young age

Come on, that makes perfect sense. Screaming while delivering will traumatize them, but leaving them to fend for themselves as small children. That couldn't be any more rational.

Scientology isn't a religion in the traditional sense -- it is a criminal enterprise under color of religion.
