CULTURE: Leonardo DiCaprio Biopic of Timothy Leary in the Works

Leonardo DiCaprio's production company is working on a biopic of LSD guru Timothy Leary, Page Six says. Winona Ryder's father has been hired as a creative consultant on the project. Leary was a close friend of Ryder's father and Ryder's godfather. DiCaprio's father was a friend of Leary's, as well.

The race is on to see who can make a biopic first of Timothy Leary, the LSD-loving Harvard professor who urged students in the 1960s to "Turn on, tune in, drop out." Winona Ryder's father, Michael Horowitz, who was Leary's archivist and one of his best friends, has signed on as a creative consultant for Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way. Leary was Winona's godfather. Leonardo's father, George DiCaprio, a comic-book writer and distributor, also was close to Leary. Leo's team has to beat a rival Leary project by "Requiem for a Dream" director Darren Aronofsky.
