The UK's Independent explores the popularity of sex blogs written by "bad girl diarists." Abigail is the author of Girl with a One-Track Mind, which just won Best British Weblog at the 2006 Bloggies and garnered its creator a book deal. Preceded by Belle de Jour and The Washingtonienne, this new group of sex blog authors, suggests the Independent, are destined to become the chick-literati de jour.

"Sex-blogging is most definitely a genre," says Abigail, the Girl with a One Track Mind. "Just as there are blogs about technology or knitting, so there are blogs about people's sex lives. But whereas interest in the former may be limited, people will always have an interest in sexblogs because sex is something that affects all our lives."

One person who is hoping so is the literary agent Patrick Walsh, who found Belle de Jour and turned her blog into a best-selling novel. "If you look at the nature of books that come out of blogs, like Salam Pax, or the women bloggers in Iran, you see that they are expressing something that they can't in their daily lives," he says. "There is a sense of the subversive, or the unspeakable, which applies particularly to sex but also to politics and dissidence." As well as overseeing Belle de Jour's second book, Walsh is publishing Stephanie Klein's sex diaries, Straight Up and Dirty, through Ebury Press this summer and working on turning Bruna, a Brazilian ex-hooker, into the next Belle de Jour.

Wait until I get my Slut Blog going.

Seriously.

And one of the links on it will be a blog maintained by one of our very own SGs. See if you can figure out who, without any hints from me.

Having the details of someone's sex life, providing it's not so peculiar as to freak me out, provided every now and then in blog entries: kinda hot, definitely interesting.

Having the blog be about nothing else: boring.

My sex blog would be awesome, I'd only have to update like once a month.

There’s something I haven’t been able to do recently, because I am currently so bloody busy.

It’s not being fucked hard from behind and getting my arse spanked.

Nor is it my sucking a cock and rubbing it between my tits.

Nor even, is it having my legs around a guy’s shoulders as he pummels me over and over again.

Though I wouldn’t say no to any of the above, given a spare moment in my schedule, there is another gap - besides the one between my legs - that needs filling.

And that gap is food: I miss cooking.

I've read Belle de Jour (the book), it was pretty well written and a nice bit of escapism.

It all strikes me as terribly self-indulgent and narcissistic. "Look at me! I'm being bad! Oooh, look at meeeee!!!"
