This wasn't a McFarlane figure though right? I'm guilty of buying some of the Elvis ones and I nearly bought a Johnny Cash figure. But the one action figure I must say that I own which prompts the most "huh's" in my collection is my Oscar Wilde figure. Dunno if I want the Cobain one yet though.

I wish somebody would license me for an action figure.

Although more appropriate would be an inaction figure, I guess.

many fans have been asking for and have never received in ANY form, official or not, is an action figure

.....well, not quite right, since action figures HAVE been available in various garage form for years, and there was even a resin cast model kit produced some years ago.....

Legions of Nirvana fans will surely pick it up, showing that they understood Kurt loud and clear....

He was the Jim Morrison of Gen X an the best thing voice grungers (like I was)

Several other bands were listed for you already, point being he was the "voice" because he was the first major exposure for the masses. Whomever fronted the first big grunge band would always be remembered as such.

malmuud
He did write a song called "I Hate Myself and Want to Die." Which is pretty goth/emo. Plus he had a lock on hustling himself as the reluctant rock-star. Like someone forced him to sign to a major label and do magazine covers and videos and shit.

If you feel like checking out the sources, read the book "come as you are". Kurt never denounced being rich, in fact he welcomed it i.e. right at the last minute, changing the contract before nevermind was released so that he would get most of the money (I don't remember the exact figures). What kurt was against was the image of the rock stars who were before him, like the skanks who would appear on poison videos, the guys who sang about fucking 16 year olds while wearing tight leather pants......

Some of you, as well as certain corporations, have striped this person of any dignity he deserved, spat on his musical integrity, and pissed on his entire family, because its so easy now cause he's gone, but theres one thing you will NEVERbe able to take away from this band and thats their honesty. After making millions of dollars, they still made (although not too much) music with total honesty, and thats something you rarely get with bands, whether from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's.

I'm not defending his songs in a "you have to like his music or else" tone, but more of a "I don't like Ozzy, the rolling stones, aerosmith, the beatles, but I still respect their accomplishments" type tone.

Sorry for the lecture thing but I don't believe its justified that someone thinks they have the right to degrade someone just because they're dead.

I think we'd see WAY more backlash against him if he were still alive. People go easy because of the whole martyrdom thing. wink

Heh.

If you read his journals, it's like he was a ticking bomb. The guy was contemplating suicide from a relatively young age. He reminds me a lot of a close friend I have. Attitude and all. Minus the musical ability. But Nirvana made a big impact on grunge. You can say Mudhoney (I believe Mark Arm coined the term 'grunge'), Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and the Melvins were huge influences and founding fathers. Nirvana was still the band that brought it into the mainstream more than the previous.

Then you decide whether or not that's good/bad. Bad because people who don't know what the music means will listen to it since it's 'hip'. Good because people like you who genuinely love the music had a better chance to get your glimpse.

I agree with LostIdentity though. Ie, do you like music videos? Look to the Beatles then. They sent out the first known promos with Rain and Paperback Writer.
