I'm not innocent in the sense of never having done something wrong, but I do feel like I haven't yet reached the moment that'll really cause me to lose my naive and ignorant view of the world so I can see it for what it really is and see myself for what I really am (and maybe more).

So yeah, interesting stories?

that often happens when you come from a very abusive home. if you can't trust the world inside, how can you trust the world outside?

thank god for therapy

Just before my 19th birthday. I had a permacath (a catheter inserted into a artery in tje chest) placed in with very little anaesthetic. There was a lot of blood, some of which sprayed my mom who was trying to be strong by keeping me company through the procedure.

After the procedure was over, and I was finished screaming, the doctor leans over my hospital bed and says:

"What do you say?"

me "What?"

"What do you say?"

me: "Thanks?"

"Good boy."

I never looked at anyone, especially doctors, the same after that.

I was 12 years old. My best friend and I were in his room trading baseball cards. My best friend paused for a second and said "Did you ever think we might not get to play for the Yankees?" Until that moment, I hadn't. Until that moment, I had just assumed that I would grow up and be the starting right fielder for the New York Yankees. Though I still love baseball now just as much as I did then...since that day, a certain magic has been absent.

My father sat me down one day when I was throwing a tantrum and explained to me that he and my mother seriously considered having an abortion so I didn't have anything to be sad about.

So... the day i discovered what an abortion was[I think I was about 10 when I found out what it was/meant].

Maybe when I was about 9. I found out that my mother had a disease that would eventually kill her. But I didn't hear it from my parents in a face to face talk, I heard it from a kid I fuckin' hated who's mom was friends with mine. He overheard his mom and my mom talking about it. Then one day in class I told him that I didn't want to sit near him or some crap because he talked a lot, and he just blurted it out to try and hurt me.
Finding something like that out when you aren't ready for it can do some pretty messed up shit to your mind. Fucked me up for years. From then until the day my mom did pass away (when I was 17), I was always waiting for something bad to happen.
Truth is, if I ever saw that kid again, I'd probably punch him in the face, and walk away without saying anything to him.

I think as soon as I could understand what my parents were saying to me, I was no longer "innocent".

Idiotic story: My Dad from the get go told me there was no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and all that other crap. Yet, he claims to be a Christian, and believes in god and all that malarchy.

One of these things is not like the other... whatever

Or perhaps it was seeing the pictures of me all fucked up and almost dead, and stuck in an incubator shortly after birth, when I was like...5. Or possibly seeing my dad laid up in the hospital after having his neck broken by Atlanta City Police.

I'm sure it was somewhere around that 5-7 year old time. shocked

That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence
Love - Devotion
Feeling - Emotion
Love - Devotion
Feeling - Emotion
Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence
If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don't hide
Just believe in destiny
Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence
That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence
Don't care what people say
Follow just your own way Follow just your own way
Don't give up, don't give up
To return, to return to innocence.
If you want then laugh
If you must then cry
Be yourself don't hide
Just believe in destiny.

When I was 8 I used to hang at my friend's house everyday during the summer while her parents worked. One day we watched Pretty Woman and oddly enough the next day her father left out his 1,001 different sexual positions: illustrated which we found sitting on the coffee table. We were dually stunned.
