Boy Sets Fire has got a busy year so far. Not only have they re-released their classic album The Day the Sun Went Out but they just put out an all demo album called Before the Eulogies and they have a new album called The Misery Index: Notes from the Plague Years. It's a little Dostoyevsky sounding but hey they had a rough couple of years. I got a chance to talk with their vocalist Nathan Gray.

Check out the official website for Boy Sets Fire

Daniel Robert Epstein: Hey man, are you guys touring?

Hi Nathan,

Do you remember staying at my house in New Brunswick, NJ in around '96? You were a rip and I always remember you guys left all these 40's in our fridge which I gave to an eager hobo the next day.

Treasured memories and I've still never heard anything aside from that demo tape you played me. tongue ooo aaa

Oh, boysetsfire. Honestly, they're probably my favorite band to see perform, ever. I've never ever felt the kind of energy that just pours out of the band and the crowd at every performance.

I'm picking up the new album first thing tomorrow. I saw them in this little tiny-ass bar in Albany somewhere, and they played a veritable slew of new stuff. It seems much more akin to their After The Eulogy work, and I'm too goddamn excited about it.

Protest is Patriotism. Always.
