Coming down with a nasty something or other. Cold-flu-type thing. Last time this happened I just stayed home from school and got looked after. But I have none of that now. So Im looking for suggestions on what to do. Should I take anything? Should I stay in for a couple of days? What do you do when you get sick.
Any help would be great. frown

Stay home and make sure you drink lots of water and juice, and sleep as much as your body needs. You'll know when you're better smile Take paracetamol if you have a fever and ibuprofen if you have aching muscles. Make sure you eat every day, and do happy things so you don't get bogged down in feeling rubbish.
Good luck! kiss

edit: Oh, and if you get fever, pain in your neck, aversion to bright lights or rash, get it checked out just in case. Meningitis has similar symptoms to flu, but then, so does the common cold so don't fret!

Make hot whiskies! Pour some boiling water in to a mug with a shot of whisky and squeeze some lemon juice in with it. It make you feel a little better instantly.

You could also make a humidifier: Have an large, open bowl filled with boiling water and a couple of drops of eucalyptus essential oil in your room when you go to sleep. It keeps the airways clear so that you can sleep without too much difficulty.

Hope you feel better soon. smile

Edited to rectify typo.

Coldeeze!

You see how it says really big "Clinically proven to cut colds by nearly half?" Coldeeze has made a believer in me and I'm never sick without it, I recommened it to everyone, and yeah. You should run out and get some.

Definitely just take it easy. Don't over tax yourself too much or it will just delay you getting better.

I agree with the drinking of water and juices, ginger ale is good if you have an upset stomach. Try to steer clear of drinks that will dehydrate such as alcohol. I know they say you shouldn't drink soda but if my throat hurts the carbonation feels good on it if I don't happen to have any chloraseptic.

Hmm, what to take.. my doc always recommends Robitussin for over the counter but I usually go without anything if I can.

Take Vitamin C!

Flu-sex briefly killed my boyfriend and I, but then we made miraculous recoveries!

Sleep, honey and sex... what a winning combination.

Do take it easy for a couple of weeks even after you feel better. A friend of mine is suffering badly from post-viral fatigue, she's been in bed for months because she went into work overdrive after she thought she had 'recovered'. frown

Also for flu there's a tincture you can buy on the net called 'Sambucol'. It's a special kind of elderberry extract, if I remember correctly, and really works miracles for me. Worth stocking up on. smile

Rest, water/orange juice, ibuprofen, Emergen-C. Avoid dairy because it'll make you more congested.

Also, if it's what's been spreading around here, be warned that one of the symptoms is "a strong desire to escape the plague through death."
