LXG was always going to be shit. From the very moment I heard that acronym applied to it. It's not an action comic, it never should have been an action movie.

V for Vendetta is one of my favourite books.
Whatever happened or didn't happen between Moore and the makers of the movie is irrelevant, especially because none of us really know the story, right? All I know is movie adaptations of books, especially really awesome stuff like V, are always hugely disappointing to those who have read and loved the books. Regardless, it's just a movie so watch it and make your own opinion.
Sometimes i think Why don't they just make new movies and stop making adaptations of books and graphic novels, lord knows it hasn't helped the comic book industry at all. You'd think after all these comic and graphic novel movie adaptaions sales would be up, but they're not.

Well that was long, but there's my 2 cents on the subject.

umm, you don't work in the industry do you? Because SALES are UP....

cicculation has increased over the past 7 years. Majorly! Plus, the TPBs and GNs are now being sold at major chains...that is a major change from 7 years ago.

Contract or no contract, if my work was taken by others and altered, I'd probably be pissed too.

There's no way Moore could have known over 20 years ago that this is how his work would be adapted, and it's no wonder he's pissed off.

Actually even 20 years ago movie adaptations of books that had little/nothing to do with the source material were common. He knew then that it COULD be adapted into a movie and that legally anything could be done to it without his say. No sympathy, he chose to do the job and sign the contract.

I'd be willing to bet he hasn't even WATCHED the movie.

My dad owns a comic book store, and none of the comic-based movies releases have brought in any new customers or higher sales. Not the books and not the merch.
Small business is a tough one to be in. Sure in some ways graphic novels are becoming more mainstream and accepted and that's nice. But these books being sold in mainstream stores really hurts the small business. But thats another issue alltogether.

I own a comicstore too...it sucks that your dad has not seen any new customers from the movies. I have seen many new ones from the movies. Almost any customer under the age of 15 has come in because of the movies...nothing else. What did fail miserably was the concept of "free comicbook day" it cost the retailers lots of money, and saw barely any return. The people would just come in and grab and walk out...not very polite.

As well....sin city brought in tonnes of new customers seeking the TPBs however Diamond did not keep enough in stock for the direct retailers and thusly many stores lost sales to the bigger bookchains.

He already said, he used to view the comic as a separate entity and that he now thinks that was naive of him. I'm not saying he's being reasonable - he's throwing a temper tantrum. But I can understand why he's mad. Now when he says that he's writing a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic and is the creator, people think of a shit on a stick movie.
