i just realized i am not into the things men usually are:
hunting (i don't even eat meat)
guns
sports
cars ( i don't even drive)
building things
i am a pre school teacher aid
i write poetry
i have made a candle
i love scented candles like a fiend
i watch starting over when i can
i cry at "chick flicks"
so by americas cultural standards i must suck at being a man.
should i feel bad about that? anyone else feel that way? why is there no word for men who are like this but women can have the title "tomboys"?

Girls can wear jeans
And cut their hair short
Wear shirts and boots
'Cause it's OK to be a boy
But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
'Cause you think that being a girl is degrading

Girlieman is almost universally slanderous in my experience. There exists no neutral term.

You could also call yourself a dandy. Personally, I love the word dandy.

The dandy has one unique advantage over the common herd. No matter what the situation, he will always be more exquisitely dressed than his enemies. Therefore, he has already triumphed.

I'm pretty much all those things, too (except that I love sports and can build things). But I don't feel the least bit bad about it. I don't think it has any real bearing on my being a "man."

"America's cultural standards" are constantly changing, hopefully evolving. If we worried about meeting standards, great things like this site would never exist.

And don't EVER EVER feel bad for who you are!

femmy. metrosexual. Who cares? Traditional concepts of men are rooted in killing stuff and being emotionally handicapped. Be you, be cool, rock on.

You are in a world where emo guys and metrosexuals are rampant, so it's not that big a deal.
