The dawn of a new era?

Comedy Central and iTunes have sealed a first-of-its-kind deal to make news satires The Daily Show With Jon Stewart"and The Colbert Report available to users via subscription.

Viewers will have the option to purchase a "Multi-Pass" for either or both shows, giving them access to a month's worth -- 16 episodes -- of the program for a $9.99 flat rate. Users can also opt to download singles at the standard $1.99 per episode fee.

"Multi-Pass" subscribers will have episodes of the current season delivered automatically to computers immediately after they air on Comedy Central.

Or more of the same?

For certain shows such as Lost, iTunes already allows users to download complete collections of past seasons' episodes at a discounted rate...

Or not...

But the Comedy Central pact marks the first time subscribers can purchase TV programs in advance.Deal also makes iTunes the first new media platform to offer up full-length episodes of Daily Show and Colbert.Highlights from both shows are available on Comedy Central's broadband channel MotherLoad and Verizon's VCast, but entire episodes have not been made available anywhere else until now.

I like this. I don't get cable, but it would be good to be able to just pay to watch a show on the computer (or subscribe) (or listen on a podcast) whenever the mood strikes me.

Finally, truthiness on my I-Pod (or as I like to call it: my straight to the Issues-Pod). And I enjoyed this quote quite alot from Stephen Colbert-Slade's show last night so I think I shall post it. "I like to replace Old Glory every day because there's nothing like the crisp snap of a brand new flag. Same reason I put on a fresh shirt during every commercial break. Of course, this means I have quite a mound of used flags piling up against the fire exit." Now THAT is Patriotism if I ever saw it. Future Baron? Why stop there. Let's elect Mr. Colbert-Slade our next president. Who's with me?

Seriously. This is not a podcast in the slightest. I thought it might have been a podcast similar to that of Gervais's. Also I already got my multipass a few years back. Its called bittorrent.

Hey, come on, we've all made that kind of mistake, it's easy to make.

More Jon Stewart is okay with me. We've only had him in the UK since Octoer.
