Did you all see that Cheerleader who crashed, then was strapped to a gurney, but still performed her routine as the were pulling her off the court?

Well, it's a cute story, and she's been making the talk-show rounds today, and I won't begrudge her that bit of fame; like i said: cute story.

What I LOVE, though, is this article, where she's compared to Abraham Lincoln, among others.

There are certain iconic images, like the solitary man who stood before a column of tanks near Tiananmen Square, that exemplify the best of humankind: Courage and the willing to sacrifice one's self for a noble cause.

The injured cheerleader, who kept on leading cheers with her arms, while strapped to a gurney, now joins those images that will be indelibly marked in our memories.

No, really she won't. I think it's great and all, and I'm glad she's alright. It is certainly a terrible thing what happened. But this is a bit much.

Poor girl, but I hope this causes Cheerleading to be less popular among kids. It's too damn dangerous.

"My biggest concern was that I didn't want my squad to be distracted -- so that they could continue cheering on the team -- and I didn't want my team to be distracted from winning the game."

The only way a destroyed cheerleader doing her routine from a gurney could be more distracting is if her skeleton jumped out of her skin and scored a game winning slam dunk.

Too dangerous? More like inspiring! A cheer is not just a cheer, folks. A cheer is a statement for DEMOCRACY! Every human pyramid is a representation of how we must all work together to fight for human rights, and every topple is just a visceral display of how far we have yet to go.

Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to order CHEER! instructional videos from Amazon.

I totally read that article with a tone of sarcasm. Then I realized it probably wasn't meant to be sarcastic. And that makes me a sad American.

Maybe she's destined to follow in His foot steps.

I thought that this girl was ridiculous. She fell on her head and kept doing the cheers while being wheeled out on a stretcher. That's just dumb, she could have injured herself even more. On that note, it is slightly inspiring in a time where people need inspiration. Seriously though, what a fucking idiot.

wow.

"I can't wait for Kristi's heroics to be reenacted on the big screen, or at least on the small screen. If dubious personalities like the Runaway Bride receive so much publicity, a genuine heroine like Kristi certainly deserves her 15 minutes of fame."

i was ready to say "surely this was written w/tongue firmly in cheek," before i clicked the link, but...it's not, and that's just f$#@ing silly.

That was freaky, college cheerleaders are scary enough of it is, now we have one possessed Linda Blair style. Doing cheers in semi-consciousness.
