I don't know what to say. Maybe this is or isn't threadworthy, but nonetheless, I found it and adore it so I thought I'd share.

ok...i can see how some graffiti can be passed off as legitimate art, or as making some sort of statement. but this is just a bunch of assholes being annoying. sure, the lights come in pretty colors; but so do some kinds of bubble gum, and i'm going to start chucking packs of chewed bubblicious on the sides of public buildings.

Snidebot, you don't strike me as someone who'd lift a finger to beautify his community. It's kinda just a cool medium is all. I'm not calling this brilliant, i'm saying I find it to be neat you damn hater. Plus, conceptually, it's something i'd never seen.
Yes Banksy is the man but he's not exactly something comparable though i'm not surprised to see his name pop up immediately in a "graffiti" thread.. That said, this is more aesthetic than political, not that Baksy doesn't have mad skillos. I just thought this was neat. Nice to know I'm alone in that regard. blackeyed

i do what i can. i don't litter. i promote local arts and culture. i support historical preservation. this is my idea of beautifying my community. yours is sticking lights on the sides of buildings. just a different sense of opinion and aesthetic, i suppose.

Snidebot...I didn't hype it up, rather I'd say my introduction was rather modest. Then you came and denigrated it as the first person to post in the thread. What do you want me to say other than go hate somewhere else or at least phrase it more constructiively than "i can see how some graffiti can be passed off as legitimate art, or as making some sort of statement. but this is just a bunch of assholes being annoying.". You're right, it is just a different sense of opinion, mine being that, in this case, you're just an asshole being annoying. And anyways, since when does art necessarily have to make a statement? That's just pretentious nonsense. You don't like it fine, you indirectly insult me and my taste as the 1st person in expect some animosity. Though that smug ...different sense of opinion and aesthetic comment sure was both sincere and profound. And for the record, i support historical preservation too, though what is that really saying?

generally, when i say i "adore" something, i'm pretty much hyping it up. but that's just me. perhaps we lend differing connotations to the word.

What do you want me to say other than go hate somewhere else or at least phrase it more constructiively than "i can see how some graffiti can be passed off as legitimate art, or as making some sort of statement. but this is just a bunch of assholes being annoying.".

for one, i don't care what you say; just as you probably shouldn't really care what i say. secondly, you're right. i wasn't being very constructive, nor was it my intention to be constructive. you posted something on the internet and gave your opinion, i then gave mine. don't be so defensive. it's not like i put your personal work on trial, nor am i an expert, nor does my opinion matter for shit; it's just my opinion.

You're right, it is just a different sense of opinion, mine being that, in this case, you're just an asshole being annoying.

k-rad. next.

And anyways, since when does art necessarily have to make a statement? That's just pretentious nonsense.

i never said it did. all i said (or at least meant to say) was that i think some graffiti is legitimate art and that some graffiti makes an actual statement, and that i don't see putting some lights on a wall as either of the above.

You don't like it fine, you indirectly insult me and my taste as the 1st person in expect some animosity.

to be honest, i'm always a little surprised when people get upset about things said on the internet; though i guess i probably should have learned my lesson by now.

Though that smug ...different sense of opinion and aesthetic comment sure was both sincere and profound.

well, since that's the way i view it, i suppose it is sincere; though i agree there's nothing profound about it.

And for the record, i support historical preservation too, though what is that really saying?

well, what i meant when i said that i support historical preservation was that i donate (mostly financially, admittedly) to the historical society and the state museum, as well as helping where i can (again, mostly with money and petition drives) with projects to help save historically significant areas from decay or demolition. i do so because i believe that the tangible and visible links to the past help add to the beauty of my community, as do the revitalization of worn-down areas and the reversal of urban decay.

How threads work: Someone says they like something. Others are free to say that they don't. The only one doing the insulting is you, so get a thicker skin, or don't start threads.

I would also like to know the song as well if anyone knows.
