I say a short 2 day or so trip to japan is always fun, or if you dont feel like having a language barrier then a quick jont over to las vegas for a day or two is certainly worth it.

I love air travel, especially spur of the moment, with short trips to other countries that only last a day or 2 cause they make the best stories.biggrin

I haven't left the US yet. I was going to vacation in London this spring, but the long distance relationship I was in sort of fell apart. Now I have no plans for anything out of the country...

You live in Europe, and you don't travel?

You are so close to so many different countries, cultures and environments there that you should, money willing, see as much as you can.

I live in Canada, it is huge. Much of it is boring.

I would kill to be so close to so many different countries. See France, see Italy, Germany, Sweden and Finland!

Or like, come to Canada. That's cool too.

I've used my passport 6 or 8 times I suppose. Only one real overseas trip (Japan) and a few trips down to Mexico. Mostly trips to Canada.

Air travel, though necessary, sucks. Airports suck. Jetlag sucks. And it costs a lot.

You're young, I don't think I'd used my passport by the time I was 22 either.

Japan or Vegas - if you're loaded yeah!

I suggest somewhere like Prague or Estonia. It's only a couple of hours on a plane and you can get flight and accomadation for no more than £100.

I don't even have a passport. I've never left the country, and I've never flown.

I've been to Canada numerous times, Switzerland twice, Amsterdam, Germany, UK, and Malaysia. Of course it depends on the type of fun that you are looking for, but as far as variety I'd go for Switzerland or Canada.

How does one go about getting a passport? I quite possibly need one for my up coming honeymoon, and don't really know the whole process.

Don’t be in any hurry to go to London, personally I would rather sit in a ditch than go there, as for a place to go on holiday I say Fiji

It depends, but you can get the paperwork, and submit it at most post offices. If your honeymoon is soon, you better hurry. It takes 2 or 3 months I think. If you want it sooner, it costs a lot extra.

Agreed, London isn't as exciting as American movies might make you believe. The fact is I spent less money, and had more fun, flying from Lutons to Barcelona and staying there 5 days than I did tooling around London for 2 days. As for places to go, if you're staying in Britain go see the north of Scotland, or spend a few days in Edinburgh. There's also a great hostel with a nice quiet beach in Manorbier, Wales. And then Donegal county in Ireland is very beautiful as well. Otherwise I'd say spend some time on the continent. Southern France, Spain, the Rhineland, etc. Honestly, though, I don't think it really matters where you travel, what matters is that you keep your mind open to discovering new things and meeting new people. Those are the true joys of travel.

(Shit. I really need to re-new my passport and go somewhere again.)

Don't be too hard on yourself, you're only 22. It's not like you've been squandering decades in your living room...

I recommend you first head to London. As for destinations beyond your borders, look for travel deals on countries that hold your interest. Hell, take advantage of this site to start talking to people in places that seem interesting to you - not only will you get good recommendations, you'll hopefully make some friends you can hope to meet during your travels.
