What the hell! It seems this year, more than the last Olympics, that spoiled athletes are making more of an impact on the games. Shandi Davis (speedskating) refused to skate in the team pursuit, Johnny Weir complaining that his bed was too hard and there was no one to read the bus schedules for him so he lost his chance at (figure skating) gold, US women's hockey goalie throwing her helmet across the ice after losing to Sweden. Jeez, what's going on?
There are some good points though for both foreign and US athletes. Until choking in the semi-finals, US women's hockey was good. The Swedes seem to be surprising everyone, when everyone counted them out. The men's pursuit (skiing) was excellent (Sweden won). You could see the athletes nearly coming out of their bindings to reach the finish line. It was refreshing to see people training so hard, wanting to win so badly, and not just talking bullshit but proving they had what it took.
Any dissapointments for you guys for this year's games? Surprises?
So far..... the U.S. Women's Hockey meltdown vs. the Swedes. The pending US Men's Hockey team meltdown, a la '98 olympics. The choke job thrown up by Bode Miller, although I do find a perverse pleasure when overhyped wanna be superstar athletes choke (See Dan and Dave)

For real, though ... these fucking ski-jumpers ... how the fuck do you get into that? And what the hell prepares you for the first time you jump?
I mean, look at that shit!! I think they're all a little loopy.
I was thinking that too. How do you go about training the first time you actually go off a jump? Are there bunny ski jumps?
I wouldn't go saying that the US Women's Hockey team had a melt down. They lost in a shoot out. Something that does not prove who the best team is, but who has the best specialized skill players. Turning it into an individual sport, and not a team sport. The NHL has the shootout in the regular season, but will go back to as many sudden death overtimes as it takes for the playoffs.
