I like Weezer and Rivers, but is it just me or is he getting annoying? I always used to like his pained artist routine (How great is Pinkerton?) but now he just kind of seems like a whiny bitch....

Well that's what happens when Rick Rubin (producer-album:make believe) gets a hold of you. I'll be distributing T-shirts with bold text, "RICK RUBIN RUINED WEEZER" if anyone is interested.

Well, he ruined Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. By which I mean he helped both of them achieve an artistic renaissance.

Oh, he also "ruined" "Walk this Way".

I'm being a bit unfair, as he has certainly been responsible for some of the best efforts from some of the best musicians. I'm still just pissed because Make Believe was such a disappointment, and Rivers' current spiritual quest is based in large part on suggestion from Rubin. While I think spiritual and artistic growth are important, I just want Weezer's catalogue to be filled with two minute miracles of garage pop with as little substance as possible. i.e. I far prefer their self produced work.
In my defense, however, the added material in the Queen remasters was absolute crap with no one to blame but Rubin. (Immature, quiffy remarks about Queen, Queen's music, and Queen fans to follow immediately, I am sure.)

By the way, never use Aerosmith, Run DMC, or any combination thereof in defense of artistic integrity. (he says, laughing at the eighties reference.)

Like that song about LA or Hollywood or wherever? The big hit? Because that's two minutes of garage pop crap.
