I don't hate it, I just really really dislike it. It's really funny how so many people don't want cctv cameras or ID cards because they are an invasion of privacy, yet so many of these same people have their entire lives on myspace for all to see...

Anyone else notice the feature now to add your Myspace address to your profile? The plague is spreading puke puke

I loathe it. Not only that but I don't understand it.

My band opened an account on it a month ago, because the record company advised it. We closed it the next day... Overall we agreed that we see the potential of it but we're into doing things in the real world.

There was a very good article written about myspace in a French magazine recently. It called it 'the temple of self-proclamation'. I couldn't agree more.

This was a point stressed in the article I mentionned above. The government no longer needs to track down people, they all do it willingly.

I use myspace. So does SG. It's amazing how upset people can get over something so trivial. It's one thing to attack the website, but the things that have been said here about the people who use it...

So the SG community is nice and tight unless you do something like join the evil MySpace?

Some of this is so unbelievable it's laughable.

Wow eeek

You were myspace suicide beauty queen last week, weren't you?

It seems normal that in these circumstances, you wouldn't exactly hate it...

If you're on myspace to make online friends or to find fuck-buddies, it's completely lame. If you're on there to promote your band or business, it's awesome.

Exactly. I've made some decent affiliate money off Myspace, got an amazing amount of website traffic, and all because I have an automatic friend adder and post a few bulletins. People who are on Myspace to make "friends" are deluded; everyone, even the teenyboppers with their glitter graphics, are there to promote themselves. It's not evil. It's what the site was designed for.

yup. Myspace also is such a pathetic site when it comes to layout, design and overall "tech". It's down all the time, slow, and has by far the worst designed pages on the net.

I actually posted this before I even entered the beauty queen contest. Even before I knew of the beauty queen contest. I've been using myspace for quite a while now to network. I admit it's kind of difficult to get past all of the conspiracy theories, but despite what people may believe about government intervention, it's just an internet community like any other one. I would bet the government keeps closer tabs on SuicideGirls than they do on myspace. When you look at it for what it really is, it works. Seeing as you're from the UK, you should know that I've had a lot of friends download music from Europe and purchase CD's from there, because of what they've heard on myspace. I think myspace was recommended to you as a band because it works. It gets your name out there and it gets your music out there. Like it or not, the people that use myspace are fans. And by putting down the people that use myspace, you are putting down a large sector of a potential fan base. People from all walks of life, young and old, rich and poor, use myspace and love it. As much as I have trouble with the quality or stability of myspace, it's a great place to connect with people who love what I do.

To be fair, I don't need myspace. My name is already out there . Very popular bands who use it just treat it as a bonus. While I enjoy bonuses. The band from which stems mine (my band is a side project of people from various famous bands in France) had this song called revolution.com. It won't go into details but it talks about how people are trying to do all these things on the net but at the end of the day you should be doing those things in the real world. I can understand that internet is a fantastic medium for all this stuff but I'm just more into doing the real thing.

one of my friends kept bugging me to make a myspace and finally i did, but i left everything blank. then later she asked me why i broke up with my boyfriend, which i hadn't. my relationship field just said single since i didn't fill anything in. so i filled some stuff in (and included the most un-myspaceish picture i had of myself, in which i am smooching a stuffed penguin), and then people i really didn't care to see again after high school started contacting me, then i got invited to a bunch of dumb gigs that i'm not old enough to get into anyway. so i set every possible field to zero and probably can't even access my page anymore.

really, what's the point of looking at an existing friend's myspace? it's just a place to give people the first impression you WANT them to have of you. but...i already know these people, and i certainly don't want to meet more people. and if you want me to come to a show, just call me or stop in at my work and invite me. i don't like people contacting me through a site when they wouldn't normally bother to ask me to things.

i think it's great for actual musicians, but when it's for a band or company that already has a website (or a website's myspace!! i just don't get that), or just any random idiot who wants you to know how bad they are at designing anything resembling a website, how good they are at holding a camera over themselves to hide their triple chin, and how much they looooove shitty music....i don't know. it's dumb and i won't go to people's myspaces whatsoever.

also, i think someone actually used this phrase on SG: "my myspace space." AAARRRGGHHHH...

I don't hate myspace, I just don't understand it. To me it's not a proper "blog" site, it's not a proper "forum", it's not a "friendship/dating" site. It's just sort of half-formed jumble of all these ideas. Although I do hate people with music that loads up, the shitty layouts don't bother me because I just don't even try and read them.

But I go on there to see my university group. They are thinking of organising a MySpace-group pubcrawl...hahaha.

I greatly dislike myspace. I always had, although I started to dislike it even more when customer support told me that a band had put malicious "song playing" code on my myspace (the code was my own, being a band account. No other myspace bands put their naughty music on my myspace.) As a result, customer service proceeded to turn my band account into a personal account.

I have not logged into any of my myspaces in months. I really wish people would email me instead of myspace me. I really don't like the service.
