I'm getting a pretty large and colorful chestpiece started on saturday. Its my first tattoo and just after some info on how much chest tattoos hurt and if they take longer to heal.
I've been told its the most painful place to get one, but its not the pain im really bothered about, i just need to be prepared coz i have no idea what i'm letting myself in for.
Any advice welcome
Or, I'm very thin and my chest tattoo did hurt a lot, but in the end, I wouldn't say it was unbearable. Just close your eyes and go to that special place.
The only parts of mine that were painful enough to mention were those that went over the sternum - the rest had some muscle to cushion the impact. *shrugs* Good luck.
You know, you can find at least ten people who will tell you that basically any place on your body is the "most painful place to get a tattoo."
Tattoos hurt, that's part of the charm. You won't die. I got one on my back right over the spine and supposedly that was the "most painful place" then I got one right over my hip-bone and that was "the most painful place." Because there isn't a ton of fat tissue on your chest it probably is extra uncomfortable, but I'm sure you can deal.
my first- and so far only (due to pregnancies, not cause i haven't wanted more) tattoo was my chest piece. it's fairly large and colorful. yeah, it hurt, but i wouldn't say it was unbearable crazy pain. childbirth hurts much much worse. there's really nothing any of us can say to prepare you though. it's just kind of one of those things you have to go through ya know?
oh- i'm thin and super flat chested, so i had no cushion. i also have a pretty low pain threshold. if i can do it- you can too!
I just had my chest ( collar bone area , not nipples) pierced and it sucked, but wasnt too bad. course we are talking about apples and oranges here. good luck, breath deep, and let me know how it goes if you can, cause i am going for my chest piece soon!
I have a tattoo on the right side of my chest,
the places that hurt the worst was near the center of my chest and the collarbone.
Mine took a long time to heal because I messed around wrestling with friends, etc, and it started bleeding over again and it scabbed badly etc.
So I'm not really sure how much of my healing time was due to that exacerbation.
Yup. On the sternum. Its like...*wow* *ooooo wow*...
It took me aback so much that I forgot to breathe. Almost passed out.
Then I grew my balls back and had to man up. So worth it. In my opinion, one of the sexiest places a woman can get tattooed.
Just make sure to eat...and make sure to breathe.
Be sure to let us see the finished product!

i cant speak for anyone else...but for me, the chest tattoos were the msot painful. the ones on my arms were no biggie, the ones on my back i could have slept through. the ones on my chest, however hurt like blue hell. hope its a bit less painful for you.
i just made sure i had juice on hand.. its good to have a blood sugar booster whenever you're sitting through any type of tattooing though..
i still have yet to get my colouring done (very soon) so i can't comment on shading but the outline part doesn't hurt much at all.
im a quick healer so it was more or less finished healing by the end of the week.
I have a chest piece and full sleeve.
The chest hurts for sure, but no more so than the elbow or the inside of the elbow.
The problem with it is there is a hell of a lot more of the chest than there is of both sides of the elbow put together.
You can take it if I can though.
If not, then there is always codeine.
i'm not sure if you'd want to but you can always put numbing cream on the area-or part of the area- i did this for my wrist tattoo- although my wrist was numb for a few days i didn't feel a thing. i'm not sure how people feel about the stuff but i had no problem with it... i will try to find the brand and such if you like

Thanks y'all. I'm bricking it at the minit, ie VERY nervous, but I'll live! I think I deserve a bit of pain, its been a while. 20hrs to go.Yikes. oh well. Martini, i love ur chestpiece, mines pretty similar but the heart is a padlock/heart and cross bones, with chains and stars on it.
I think I'm gonna take some high sugar drink and grit my teeth. I'll be sure to show you all after.
My chest tattoo hurt more than any of my others (including the foot, neck and back), but I think it might of been because it took so long to finish because I got outline and color all in the same session. I think the worst part was sitting in one place for so long. I got terribly antsy. I might suggest taking a vicoden if you have a low pain threshold. Good luck

that didnt hurt too much! the sturnum and bony bits were a shock to the system but not unbearable. Just gotta get the colour done now in a week or two. Overall, i enjoyed it. I cant wait for my next.
I designed it myself too, it all has meanings special to me.
Thanks for the advice b4 hand, it did help. I wasnt nervous and i didnt need to be!
