You get that right, and I don't even remember that much of it. But images of the first 5 years of my life still haunt me.

I was just a lit'lun in the 80's.. but I remember combing all my hair to one side and having a side pony tail.
Pom Pom's on the back of my socks and curly laces in my shoes.
Drawing freckles on my nose so I could be cool like punky brewster. And dancing in my back yard with my walkman, playing Madonna.

Reagan, rampant homelessness, the height of the cold war, the movie The Day After, yuppies, the complete takeover of the country by the corporate state, Just Say No, the Chicago Bears putting out a record. Shoulder pads in women's wear, tapered jeans, neon clothes, Madonna-wannabies, Duran Duran.

Lots to not miss.

That said, I had a pretty good suburban adolescence in SoCal.

But there is no need to wax nostalgic about something that you were not old enough to understand. That's like me missing the anti-war demonstrations of the late 60's. Yes, i was alive during them, but I was 3. I don't miss them.

Well, elementary school and junior high in the 80's sucked, but I liked the music, the movies, and even though the hair and the clothes are something to laugh at now, well it was fun to have big huge bad perms, and I'm not embarrassed!

Just because you were at an age to hate everything at the time, doesn't mean it all sucked.

I miss the 90s. Bring back flannel and grunge rock, I say.

Oh, and I also miss great movies like Airborne, where the cute main character skated right into my heart.
