Am I the only one who is sick and tired of long DVD menus and lead ins that you cannot skip.

One of the worst is the Red Dwarf, which I love to bits.
Lame-ass animations getting in the way when all I want to do is WATCH THE FUCKING THING..

GRRRRRR!

You go girl! I was having that same thought when I first put in Hulk. Arguably the greatest movie anyone has ever seen in the history of anyone's lifetime past, present and future, I was dismayed when it wouldn't even let me skip the trailers. True, I was still able to fast forward them, but something about the whole situation was a little... gay, for lack of a better word.

Sometimes I like them a lot... the one from Office Space is particularly great.

And what is this nonsense about Hulk being "the greatest movie anyone has ever seen?" I thought Hulk was beyooooond terrible.

I, too, hate it when you can't hit the "menu" button, and have to fast-forward through the previews.

I personally hate it when people use the word 'gay' as a substitute for saying something negative. I can't wait until that shit is over.

I hate Serenity's DVD menu. Every option selection is accompanied by an explosion.

I hate that too. Here I am, trying to jack-off. And we have the FBI warning. Then the "Previews" or phone sex ads.

All I want to do is rub one out. mad

There has to be some DVD player somewhere that lets you skip all that crap. Someone find it for me.

I know what you mean. When seasons 1&2 came out it was bad and I hoped they would fix it, but I just got season 7 and it's even worse.

Ugh... DVD menus are the so iritating.

One of the most frustrating things that happens to me on a daily basis is having the movie end while i'm asleep and then waking up to the stupid 30 second soundbyte on the menu repeating ad nauseum.

Absolutely.
I am a chronic insomniac and only sleep a few hours a night.
The way I survive is to watch movies until I drop off.
Wouldn't it be great if you could mute the audio in the menu's and have it saved?

My work around is to rip all my DVD's to quicktime files and watch them on my powerbook- which is fine, but ripping 300 odd DVD's takes a bloody long time and uses a lot of disk space,

You can get rid of those by ripping the DVD using Handbrake.

I can't sit through the "Did you rent this DVD? If so this is how you turn the fiend into the proper authorities", which can't be skipped. Have to mute it. Fox seems to the worst of the lot, it must be because they can't contain all their evil and it's spilling onto DVD's in the form subtle hate messages.

There shouldn't be anything to skip in the first place! Put every little bit of it elsewhere!

I agree 100%. DVDs come with a lot of great features: enhanced sound and visual quality, behind the scenes docos, etc. But the best feature of all? The fucking movie that I'm trying to watch.

I use a program called Windows Media Player Classic. As soon as the DvD starts I click on root menu and it takes you right to the main menu. This will only work if you have a TV out card though. wink

Yeah, I use media player classic too, but rarely for watching DVDs. And the TV out card is a non issue since there isn't a TV anywhere near the computer.
