Everyone else, please resume the discussion about media bias ... sorry for that little interlude ... I'll be leaving this thread now.

I seriously don't know what your problem is with me, Dan ... since we're being so cordial.

I call bullshit when I see it. You seem to have a problem with that.
It's called debate, and I don't know why you always seem to get your panties in such a bunch when someone (namely, me, I guess) calls you on it.

Do I intentionally single you out with my "snark"? No. I'm snarky with everyone ... that's just the way I am. Sorry.

Does anyone else get all whiny the way you do? Again, no.

Has anyone else on this site (where we've both been for like five years) ever called me a dick, not just once but numerous times? Again, no.

But I'm the one with the problem. I'll seek help for that.

You can go ahead and try to save face by calling me whiny...but seriously...that's giving yourself a little bit too much credit. You annoy me when you do that shit...but I won't lose any sleep over it.

But Seriously, Chris...if you're going to claim ignorance of you being a dick to me, specifically...and jumping to conclusions...specifically when I'm involved...that's your delusion.

I don't have delusions of grandeur. I don't think I matter more than I do...because I don't.

You can try to fall back on that "I'm snarky to everyone" routine...but really...we both knwo the truth. Afterall...as you've said...we've both been on the site for a while.

What a short memory you have, though, when it suits you. You seem to forget unloading on me for "sticking around" after I had mentioned I was letting my account lapse....once again...unprovoked.

But that's ok...I'm just being whiny and imagining things, right?

No more, kids.

No.

More.

Not one response from either of you. You've both gotten way too personal and it's time to just walk away.

I think most things have areas which can be deemed racist in some way, but I think the guy is pretty much talking bollocks.
The Soham murders affected everybody and to suggest it's coverage was because they were two little white girls is absurd.
There are reports on crimes relating to black people, Asians etc all the time. It's insane that a man in that position has started this all.
Once again it's creating a race issue that isn't there. I'm surprised Kanye West hasn't egged it all on yet.

Murder / abduction of children will always get more coverage than adults being murdered. Sadly, it is all to do with public perception and the only way we'll find out is if two ten year old non-white girls are kidnapped and the coverage can be compared to Soham. And I hope to whatever God there is that doesn't happen.

Like the acres of coverage given to "hundreds of missing black boys"? or all the hours of tv about black boys being trafficed and used for human sacrifice? tongue

How did the Soham murders affect me? Why do the deaths of young black children not affect me as much? It's clear that deaths of young black people get far more attention in the UK media than young white people. The only exceptions have other factors; racist police forces, a prominent speech about bullying a few days before the death, gang violence etc.

Most of the reports about blacks / asians and crime suggest that they cause crime, not that they are the victims of crime.

Look at all the stuff about mugging; they'll interview white victims and talk about black men doing the mugging.

Certain cases always hit the public harder than others and it has NOTHING to do with race.
The whole Damilola Taylor murder was one such case, he was black. Big deal, the colour does not matter. People must have a seriously fucked up and bitter mind to try to make a racial issue out of the way such things are reported.
People are murdered every day. The newspapers can't make frontpage headlines about them all, they have to pick and choose.

I just think you're totally wrong about the way races are portrayed in the media, I could post something from a newspaper every single day about a black person or an Asian person being a victim of crime.
The mugging thing you mentioned is complete bullshit. If you want to create a race issue that really isn't there, if it makes you feel better, then go ahead. But if I were you I'd start fighting a cause that actually exists.
