Since Friday I've been listening either to the new Foo Fighters album, Probot, the Nirvana box set and the new NIN album and I am completely blown away by Dave Grohl's utter mastery of everything musical. While tons of other bands that I used to love are flapping aimlessly around like fish on a riverbed, Dave Grohl hits the mark every time.

Share some love for the most awesome SG member!!!

Surprised that you didn't mention Q.O.T.S.A - Songs For The Deaf. whatever

Why can't people like a band for their music & not because Dave Grohl appears on their album?
He's a great musician but just because he appears on someone's album doesn't make it better than everything else.

He's a rock and roll drummer. What I like about Dave is that interviews I've seen with him make him seem like the kind of dude you could hang out with and drink some beers and have a few laughs. Seems like a funny dude. But maybe that's just his publicist talking, and in real life he's a complete dick.

I can confirm that Dave is a guy that you can hang out and drink beers with. That's exactly what I did when Foo Fighters and QOTSA rolled through Iceland. He is the furthest from a dick as anyone could be and is an insanely funny and witty man. Very humble and not a "star" at all. He went out of his way to get a small punk band that he overheard playing in a barn whilst on a drive by the fjords to open for his show, paid for his share of the rounds and was just an all around good guy.

I know a fair few people who've met him in person, boths as fans and in a professional sense and they all considered him an incredibly helpful, modest and friendly man.

Back in the day I saw nirvana and he was that new drummer for the group lol.

Those 3 guys put out more and better sound than just about any group I ever saw ( I wasnt very excited to see them I was more of a mudhoney Dinosaur guy before I saw them live)

Dave Grohl was infectious with his love of music then and hes grown and changed like very few musicians do (lets face it he coudl have vegged out on the nirvana fame for his whole life)

Hes still not my fav but I appreciate the work hes done and admire his talent and work ethic.

I think he's a damn good artist...I usually don't have favorites, but he and his band are among the top of my list.

He's the only celebrity I've ever seen drunk in person (in a regular setting, not on stage). He said he'd do a shot of whisky with us, but he never did.

Scott Stapp says Dave has a small cock. I think Scott is just jealous that Dave has talent.

what a fucking asshole! i knew it was too good to be true. why does Dave Grohl lie to us?

We were actually kind of upset at the time. Sober thinking reminded us that offering to buy a guy a drink in a club he's part owner of is pretty dumb and pointless.

Edit: I started a thread about it when I got home that night. It's around here somewhere.

If only you had gone into the over the top agressive "oh you think you're too fuckin' good to drink with us, Mister Big Shot Rock Star" rant, you could be telling us a story about how Dave Grohl kicked your ass.

Here's the thread

I'm pretty sure my one friend and I were loudly talking about how he'd blown us off, and a more sober friend kept telling us to shut up.

That's a very, very good point. I already respected the guy, but now I respect him just a little bit more.
