Does anyone else feel they swear too much and want to stop?

I work in a very male/blue collar dominated environment where literally every second word from most guys mouth is fuck (the oilfields)

I find myself then taking these bad habits back into "civilization" and am embarrassed of myself.....esp the time I dropped the c*nt bomb in front of my mom blackeyed

its harder than people may think to stop it when back into society or NOT pick it up when in the swearing friendly environment

thoughts? (without being the funny man/women who just uses this thread to throw out favorite curses)

Mm. I have that problem too sometimes. I find that saying fuck as often as I do steals the thunder from the times I say it and I really mean it.

And I hate it when I meet some tough, leathery white trash woman with crispy hair and a cig dangling out of her frowny mouth who is swearing like a sailor. I worry that's how people see me when I swear in public. blush

I've cut down a great deal since college. When I get angry I still swear ferociously, but not as much in everyday conversation any more. Having a job where I have to watch my mouth has helped.

I swear alot, but I try to tone it down infront of my family. Sometimes they slip, though, nothing I've gotten scolded for. I should try to cut down.

When I'm very angry, though.. I don't bother trying to censor myself.

I have a filthy mouth when I'm with my friends. I've only slipped up a couple of times, and the slips were minor.
Of course, saying as much guarantees that an egregious fuckup is in my near future.

I have found that a long loud string of nonsensical curses when you are mad keeps you from overusing them during everyday speech.

Like if I get stuck at a red light because of assclowns/gridlock out comes the:
Goddamed cocksucking-motherfuck-assfukingcuntlicker-jerkass! COCK!

Although after the last two seasons of deadwood, cocksucker has replaced most of the repetiour of everyday swears for metongue

I curse constantly and always have, but I know when to be respectful.

Back in high school ... I think it was a New Year's Day after a drunken NYE and I called my mom from the hotel phone.

She asked how the party went. "Oh, it was fucking great!"

People were totally agape and all like, "That's your mom!"
"Yeah, I know."

The funny thing is, my mom was a CCD teacher and attended church every Sunday, but she also could curse with the best of them. You just have to realize when it's okay.

I swear a LOT, I use it in everyday life, and in a large number of ways both very profoundly and almost annoyingly consistant, and I don't give a fuck.

I swear around all walks of people but I do it in a way that punctuates a statement in a way that truly adds to the situation, I find that people who never swear tend to around me, like my friends parents, some of which are amazed that after an afternoon with me they will hear things, they would never expect to hear from their folks.

I'm sort of a swearing god really.

I don't know how, but I've never managed to pick up the habit. I almost never curse, when I do it sounds horribly awkward and ridiculous. People will stop, look at me and go 'Did you just curse ????HAHAHA'. So I don't bother if I'm going to sound like a dork anyway. whatever

I curse like a sailor, but I used to be one. I think I say one "fuck" per sentence when I am with my friends. I can turn it off and on when working without even thinking about it.

Every other word out of my mouth is foul. I picked it up from my parents. If someone pull out in front of me or I get stuck at a string of red lights, I just spew out nonsensical strings of profanity.

I don't normally, I find it tends to lose it's affect if you do it 24/7. I just love the look on people's faces when you do let loose with a string of profanity strong enough to make ozzy o's hair fall out if you don't swear much normally tongue
