Actor William Shatner has, I kid you not, sold his kidney stone to GoldenPalace.com. The 74 year old actor was rushed to hospital after collapsing due to pain during filming on the set of 'Boston Legal' last year. The surgical stint and string used to extract the stone are also included in the sale.

The stone was so big, Shatner said, "you'd want to wear it on your finger".

"If you subjected it to extreme heat, it might turn out to be a diamond," he said.

The $25,000 will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. I sincerely hope this doesn't usher in a new age of celebrity collectibles.

Why indeed? Why would anyone want to buy a partially eaten ham samwich, or used breast implants, or a cinnamon bun that looks like Mother Theresa?? Ah, humanity.

Golden Palace seems to buy a lot of celebrity items of questionable taste.

If some collector is willing to pay for it - and the money is going to something like HfH - why not?

For almost any celebrity item, somebody somewhere is willing to buy it.

I think this story would be a lot more mind-boggling if it didn't end with $25K going to a very good charity.

The money's going to charity, so I don't see a problem. Still, even as a Star Trek fan, why would anyone want a kidney stone?? Still better to have someone else's in a jar than your own lodged in your body!!!

That would make an awesome ring.

People would be like "what stone is that"? "Kidney. Captain Kirks kidney."

Part of their business model is to get people with gambling problems to read these kinds of headlines to go visit their website.
