I'm quite lost here! He's my favourite author and now he is a she and we don't even know if she is really she or it's another whole different person!

She doesn't seem the kind of person you want to piss off.
Really, most of it seemed too perfect to be real. I didn't really invest any emotional feelings in the "JT Leroy books," beyond "poor kid," so I'm not too upset about this. IN fact, I think it's damn funny the woman thought she could get away with it. But I can understand why some are so mad.

yeah, its hard to laugh when you actually had conversations with someone who's now a faceless scam pretty much, someone you connected with, and then you suddenly have no idea who that someone is. this is bullshit.

Not to gloat but...........bwah-fucking-ha-ha-ha!!!
I called bullshit four pages into Sarah when it came out...........and was roundly SHUNNED BY, uh
.........enough so to be thrown out of my crowd of friends. As you can imagine, I moved on, but carried on a real resentment that I feel is finally validated.
The people responsible for these books exploited the mentally ill, the addicted, Appalachians, & AIDS sufferers. In real life..........that life is a bitch - not a party trick. You want to meet a schizophrenic crackhead truck stop prostitute mother.........I'll introduce you to my cousin Laura.........if you can find her. NOT COOL. In fact, very sad for everyone involved.
I am finally interested in these books..........finding that they are indeed the fantasies of a mentally-ill woman. Perhaps she will find her voice, seize her precious identity, and do something less evil next time.
Til then, I wonder, who's gonna tell Lou Reed, John Waters, & Nan Goldin??!?!?!?!? And I can't wait for the "I knew it all along" bullshit to start...............literati, you got PUNK'D!!
