only one? just one????????

i must be repressed or something................

1. live as a street person, see if i could make it (this is one of my biggest fears, so i figure if i conquer it, i'd be ok)

2. live through one of those "here we are gonna drop you off in the middle of nowhere" things and survive. (common theme.......see above)

3.sing at the top of my lungs in the middle of some public place (yeh, i know, i could do that for change in NYC)

4. throw away nearly all my possesions..........they drive me fucking nuts

5. take my cat and run away to brookport for good ( puke )

Feasible: devote my live to rowing. Coach, compete, the works.

Not feasible: learn to belt soul like Aretha Franklin.

In the meantime, I've got it in my head that I'm going to sit in Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland for a couple days with a sign that says "Please tell me a story" so I suppose I'll give in pretty soon and do it. I only survived last year thanks to a homeless girl that sat in the Square every moment it was open, everyone called her god, and she may have been the most serene and gentle person I've ever met. I think she'd appreciate me being there, wherever she is (she just disappeared one day)

I read an article about a couple of people who travelled around the country with a sign telling people that they wanted conversation. They were happy to talk to people about anything, they just wanted to hear what random strangers had to say. I have a lot of respect for people with the confidence to do that sort of thing.

I heard a story on NPR about a French woman who sat on a parkbench with a sign inviting conversation. She'd been doing it for years, she had a little bit of celebrity and she absolutely loved every minute of it (the talking, that is).
