Seriously, what makes people think they have the right to touch clothing that isn't theirs? Strangers touching my underwear makes me EXTREMELY agitated. It also makes me leave notes scrawled in really shaky handwriting on top of washing machines.

i think if one's laundry is done and someone else is waiting on you to come back to take your clothes out of the machine for over a 1/2 an hour (provided there are no other available machines), then touching (with intent to remove your clothes from the machine) becomes fair game. [i'm not saying Wren, you left your stuff in there, but hypothetically speaking, in terms of laundry etiquette, i think this is the way it should go].

i personally always leave a note on the dryer letting people know what time the cycle started, so they can come back in an hour or so to put their stuff in after i've removed mine. but if they haven't given me at least 5 minutes to pull my stuff out, then yeah, i'd be kind of peeved too.

It makes me extremely agitated when, in a busy laundromat, someone has walked away and left their clothing in a washer or dryer when it's finished being washed or dried. Because I really, really want to use that washer too, you know? Even if it does creep me the fuck out to touch someone else's panties and socks, even if they were just washed... heh.

But yeah, having someone take your wet clothes out so they can use the washer creeps me out too. That's why I don't leave my clothes alone when I use a laundromat. Well, that and Bean once had damn near every item of clothing that he owned stolen from a laundromat because he wasn't sitting there with his clothes...

Did you by chance.... leave your clothes unattended in a dryer, after they were done, for what might be considered a long time during a period in which all the other dryers might be full?

Because if I see a dryer full of clothes that are already done when I start doing the laundry, and they're still there when I need to use the dryer, and nobody's around, and all the other dryers are full.... yeah, I'm pulling those clothes out and dumping them on the table.

No, I consider that rude.

Wait till they steal your undies. Then you'll be really pissed.

To no one in particular:

Also, please don't smoke in the laundry room. I don't want my clothes to stink. That is why they are being washed.

Here is the full story. I am washing work clothes. There was a load in the washer and one in the dryer. The washer was done, the dryer had seven minutes left. The washer had been done for about five minutes or so. I went down to put my next load in the washer to find my wet clothes on top of the dryer and someone else's clothes in.

I understand that other people need to do laundry, too. I understand that there are only four machines in our building. But still. It grosses me out.

When this situation happens to me I open the lid on the washer stealer so their clothes just sit in the water. If it happens with a dryer I open the door so their minutes waste away. (and only if I'm sure they won't know it was me)

Indeed. Perhaps you should monitor your load whilst reading a nice piece of literature and eating macaroons, drinking sangria and listening to James Best, carolling the night away and all of a sudden DING! Load's done without any interference.

That would actually bother me LESS because then I wouldn't have to wear them again knowing that a stranger's hands had been on them.

I also want to add that I fully accept that I may just be a crazy bizzo when it comes to this stuff. I think PMS really exacerbates my OCD.

I don’t think you’re crazy. When I find that someone in my building removed my cloths from the machine it makes me cringe. The only thing worse is when you find someone else’s sock (or underwear) mixed in with yours when you open the dryer door.

The people in my dorm had major OCD. It was kind of funny because you'd return to find your clothes out of the dryer and folded. surreal It was pretty bizarre. Everyone did it.

I am very glad I don't have to use a public laundry room anymore.

There were many times I wanted to remove people's clothes from the dryer when they'd left them for a long time, but I never worked up the courage to do so.

In mine girl's clothes would sit in the washer or dryer for hours, but guy's clothes would heaped on the table after 45 minutes.

The dryer at my house is only nominally functional, and can take up two four hours to really dry a couple of pairs of jeans, so switching peoples clothes for them is almost a neccesity. What really tweaks me, though, is when I put thirty socks into the washer and get seventeen back. I want to know where all my socks go.

To go off on a tangent, my roommate last year got in the habit of putting any of his girlfriends underwear that wound up in his wash on the ceiling fan in our room. She thought this was humorous and ended up contributing to the project on a few occaisions.

I'm fine with people touching my clothes, provided that when they remove my clothes they put them some place clean.

I had fully washed and dried clothes that had been left in the dryer for about 15 minutes (in my own house) and my roommate took them out and placed them on top of the dryer.. which would normally be fine but there was a puddle of detergent on top of the dryer. Thus I had soapy clothes and had to rewash them. The dick couldn't be bothered asking me to remove my clothes so he could dry his.

Because no guy wants to be accused of touching her undies for perverted reasons. You really don't want to go through college with the nick-name "panty sniffer".

The nicer people in my dorm would do that. Others might drop your stuff on the floor.

If they are done and in the dryer for a bit, I see nothing wrong with removing them. I would never remove someone's clothes from the washer and leave them.
