This is such a new world question. Heck, maybe it's a post-colonial question. Ask a European or Asian, and they'll likely just name the country they're from, with perhaps a, "We think my great-great-grandmother was from another country." Americans answer with this long list of countries from around the world.

Anyhow, my nationality is USA. My ethnicity, heritage, family origins, whatever you want to call it, is Jewish from Belorussia, Poland and Romania on my mom's side, and Irish, Scottish and German on my dad's. On both sides it was my great-grandparents (often followed by their parents) who first came to the 'States through New York.

Americans have always so interesting origins! I'm a pure Polka from Poland, although some say I look a bit Spanish (no logical reason )

I'm first generation American (well, I consider myself a Los Angelenian), but based on my ethnic decent I'm Persian-Armenian, with a hint of German and Russian. Everyone thinks I'm Italian though, and that's just fine with me.
