Why does the SG community dislike camgirls?

I was wondering why the Suicide Girl community (generally speaking) dislikes the camgirl community? Examples here, and here.

The way I figure it, we're all sex workers who are able to portray our individual personalities through pictures on the internet, so why the general dislike? Don't some SG's have webcams as well? I mean, I've been a camgirl since 2000 and a member here since 2003, and the similarities between the two communities are very apparent, and very frequent.

Thus, I am extremely curious why camgirls are considered "distasteful" around here. Can somebody give me a sensible reason for this?

EDIT: Oh, and don't spare my feelings, please. If sensible reasoning means I might get a bruised ego, I don't mind...just so long as the reason is a decent one. My curiosity outshines the sun, and I'll get over it. ;-)

actually from those threads you posted it seemed like most of th SG community liked those camgirls.

i, myself, don't have an opinion on this. I've never watched a camgirl before.

Right, then, a thread from 2002 and a thread from 2004 about a specific camgirl in which over half the posts were positive mean that the current SG community in general dislikes all camgirls.

Well based on the evidence provided so far I have to agree with
Shalome. Two threads, one 3 years old and the other over a year old, and my own search for more examples, suggests that extreme indifference is more prevalent than disapproval. Until this thread I had never seen a single reference to cam girls on SG.

And to say that all of the SGs are sex workers is pretty ridiculous. If I win a karaoke contest, that doesn't make me a professional musician.

They were just examples, that I got off of another forum. (as an aside, I won't be able to link to the specific thread, because access to it is member-based -- you won't be able to see it unless you're a camgirl). So, I haven't actually searched for newer threads on SG, admittedly. I was just wondering if this was true or not.

Anyways, the forum linked above is intended as research for a book on camgirls -- how they came about, whats going on with the culture, etc. And in the thread, it asks why other communities dislike camgirls, and had links to those threads on SG. So, I was just asking -- no need to get your panties in a bunch.

Pitchforks? What about my original post suggested that I was out for blood? It's just a question. If there are SG's out there with relevent responses, please come forward. I don't mind honesty.

Because the SG community is just a small reflection of the world at large? A somewhat selective and distorted reflection, but one none the less.

Everyone hates camgirls, they're a safe, easy and therefore socially acceptable target. There's only so much sexual frustration one can relieve by banging commands into a keyboard. I'm say jealousy comes into it too a bit.

I'm sure a lot of SGs are polite to people they may not like, but I don't think it's the same.

What do you mean? I'm asking because maybe I'm thinking of jealousy in a way other than that which you are using it.

Are you saying some SG members/girls are jealous of camgirls and that explains the distaste?

A camgirl is a girl who has a webcam and interacts with the rest of the internet through webcam pictures and journal entries.

A karaoke contest does not involve a contract, payment, or an implied obligation to keep active (through journal entries) on the site. I do know what you're saying though -- A Suicide Girl who takes one set and posts journal entries, motivated only by liking the site that much, is hardly a "professional" sex worker -- at least in mind, they arn't. But they do sign a contract and get paid for the set, do they not? Wether they are a novice or not, is insignifigant. Sex workers often start out as a novice.

Don't ever go to a strip club, man. Those girls are the end-all be-all of providing fantasy.

My SG group loves and supports cam girls!

I'm pretty sure that is the majority opinion around here.
