Extreme tattoos or piercings and the workplace

being honest i can say hand on heart that ive never worried about visible ink or metal and just gone ahead and had what ever ive wanted done,ive been in the same industry for just under 10 years and have just continued having whatever i wanted.The uniform policy has always had no visible tattoo's or facial piercings written into but has only been inforced by a new to the job manager and forgotten about after acouple of weeks after their arrival.
I suppose it would be a much bigger issue if i did work in a 9-5 office setting but as im normally alone in a front cab for most of my shift and passengers dont generally regard the driver of their train other then a quick blur as we stop on a station managers just seem to leave the issue alone
