In the absolute sense Saw is bad.
Once again subjective...
I'm not saying you couldn't find it enjoyable, I happen to enjoy a few terrible movies. But if gapping plot holes and lousy acting don't make a movie bad...
That is because you are trying to make it more than what it was supposed to be. There are many many flaws to many of the Greatest movies ever. Including Plot holes, and lousy acting....doesn't change the fact it is all subjective...and 100 million reasons why it was good. Box Office Dollars don't usually lie too much on public opinion of the movie
I also did not think the acting was that great in Donny Darko. I saw many many plot holes, and continuity errors in it.
Donnie Darko:
Domestic Total Gross: $517,375
Domestic Lifetime Gross: $1,270,522
No stats on Worldwide.
Saw:
Domestic Total Gross: $55,185,045
Worldwide was over 100 million
BOTH movies got a B by the viewers as well. So hmmm...perhaps my statement still stands. All subjective

Forgive me for playing devil's advocate here, but if it's someone that people don't know - apart from the fact that they think his movies sucked - why should they care?
Because sooner or later, it will be someone you know. Everyone dies.
Okay. But I don't expect everyone to be upset when someone I know dies. I expect I'll be upset, but not that everyone else should be. Does it suck for his family that he died? Absolutely. Will it suck for my family when I die? I'm sure. But I don't expect the rest of the world to care one iota.
Maybe I'm just an asshole, though.

I don't think he's asking everyone to be upset. But if someone you knew died and there was a thread started about him/her, and a bunch of people came in to the thread and were like "yeah isn't that the dude who wrote that really crappy book? That book sucked hard. Oh, RIP." or "dude that bitch was mad ugly. oh, RIP." It would probably upset you. There's a difference between pretending that you really cared for the guy and blatantly disrespecting him the day he dies.

I cant recall ever seeing a movie with "great" acting. Because its just that. Acting. You're the first person who i've heard who didnt like donnie darko because of bad acting and plot holes.
Well, perhaps you should watch more movies then. There is bad acting and there is good acting...there is even GREAT acting and SHITTY acting.
Pssstt..I know lots of people that didn't like Donnie Darko.
Just because you liked it does not mean anyone and everyone else has to enjoy it.

It gets even less funny. Yes, it was a joke. My words were meant to incite laughter. If i have to quote the definition of the word joke on here, i'm gonna lose all faith in humanity.
