I happened to be watching one of the morning "news" programs where the hosts stand outside...surrounded by a crowd of people. Like clockwork...every time someone realizes they are in the shot...they start waving to the camera with this glazed, serial-killer smile on their face. They just stare ahead and wave.

Why? What is it that makes them do this? Do they not know how moronic they look? Do they not realize that nobody cares that they're on TV? What the fuck.

especially when its so much easier to just suckerpunch the guy next to you, then haul ass. at least that would be entertaining for the viewers at home.

While I find the signs moronic too...I suppose I can at least rationalize that the signs carry a distinct message. "Bumblefuck, Iaho Loves The Today Show" or "I'm incredibly un-original and this is how I'm going to propose to my wife". They at least serve a purpose...no matter how stupid.

The waving....it's just creepy.

I just always think the people came all the way from wherever, then spent the whole night in thier hotel room gluing baby pictures and glitter to a piece of cardboard.
I walk past the outdoor area for the CBS morning show every day, and those people just seem like, "what, that's it??" when the show is over.

I hate those people on cellphones (wait there's more!) that are at a baseball game and are sitting behind home plate. They are on the phone and waving at the camera therefore distracting me.

"Hey can you see me?! You CAN! Can you still see me?!"

God who cares?! I'm trying to watch the payoff pitch!

I much prefer the oblivious people that pick their nose, adjust their bra, scratch their bottom, etc. Candid is cool.

Cam Rah, the dark god of voyeurism, demands tribute in the form of waves whenever his unblinking eye magically transmits your face to the rest of the world. This is actually a better deal than the first days of Cam Rah, when he would steal your entire soul in exchange for his blessing.

It's a program of evolution, like newly hatched sea turtles that instinctively find their way to the ocean, or the gleeful yelp and ensuing "happy dance" that a fat man yields when someone yells "Pizzas here!".
Hey, speaking of annoying, how about those people that get the words "who" and "why" confused.

chump.

I was thinking this last night after the Eagles game ended. Of course the local news had a reporter on the scene outside the stadium ... and there was this HUGE group of people waving and yelling and fighting for camera time.

Uh, people ... the Eagles just got completely killed. Get in your car and go the hell home.

Well, you go be born in some tiny ass town in the midwest. Work in a paper mill for 35 years. Then go to New York and see what happens when you are in front of a TV camera for a nationwide show.
