The international art show Art Basel took place in Miami this past weekend and featured the debut of a new book by famed photographer David LaChapelle, Artists and Prostitutes from Taschen. Artforum.com reports on the launch party for the book where LaChapelle's "robosexual" muse Amanda Lepore floated naked-as-usual inside a plexiglass box perched in the middle of the pool. The book comes in a bright pink box, is being published in a limited editon of 2,500, and costs $1,250.

David LaChapelle is my favorite contemporary photographer, but I'd never pay $1,250 for any book.

lachapelle in my opinion is slightly over rated, and lepore couldn't be any more gruesome. his doc rize was pretty interesting though.

Yeah, I like LaChapelle, I love Taschen Books, but isn't the decimal point misplaced?

Y'know, sometimes people tell me i'm an art star and then i read stuff like this and i remember i'm really, really not.

sadly, i rather wanted to get that book.

and... i'm pretty sure thats never going to happen now.

for a second i thought dave chappelle resurfaced in france and slightly changed his name.

Sometimes (often) people tell me I'm lazy & fucked up........but then I read this & realize I'm gonna be rich! Thanks long-term art market!

Seriously folks, buy art.........it's the only practical investment you can sit & stare at when you're high.

I went to the bookstore to try and buy Slpixx's book tonight but they didn't have it. I guess I have to get it on amazon.

It actually depreciates a book's value if it's inscribed................so don't let him sign it!

It's like a lot of things. You start out with an idea. It's a great idea, brilliant, and you're beautiful.



But then... you know... things happen. You get sidetracked. You lose focus.



And then, before you know it, you and your goofy friends are just ten different kinds of fucking out of control.
