it's all bollocks really, I live in a moorland town in the north of england, and half the population panics, yet we used to have much harsher winters, memories are short. I'm a biker, this time if year too much ice anyway, time to walk and catch the bus! where's the panic?
we get an inch of snow and it's chaos, and everyone knows it's gonna be gone in a day. the worse thing is the media and press scare-mongering with threats of millions will die due to snow/cold/bird flu/whatever, when it's never gonna be that bad.

Yes, she should move here with me! Good ole' US of A. But the farther south you go, the more idiots freak out about snow. Still, she should come live with me.
Feh! People in Portland are even worse. I work for the city and when we get a light dusting, all the West Hills idiots start calling to ask when the plows are coming. - Yeah, right. We're gonna send a 20 ton truck up a steep, icy hill. That'll work out well.
