As long as I've been alive they've been damned pricey. I remember buying sets that cost over 50 bucks when I was a kid... I had fifty dollars worth of fun, yes, but when you consider the material involved, it's a bit of a mark up.



There's a Lego Death Star in the Lego store in Brighton that's going for £250. eeek



I keep going in there and finding it tragic that the only thing I can afford is the lego keyrings.
