On Radio 1 this week (I think), Chris Moyles was saying he thought he had mild OCD and lots of callers phoned in with their obsessive or compulsive behaviour. Which got me thinking, what are obsessive/compulsive behaviour do people have?

Mine are:
When hanging the washing, I have to use the same colour peg on one garment and I have to put socks in pairs.
I have got 2 lots of cultery, same design but different colour, but I have to use the same colour knife and fork.
All my CDs/DVDs etc have to be in alphabetical order.

all my cd's have to be in alphabetical order, i have to check the lock twice when i leave-once before i close the door, and once after, all of my crap always has to be in the same pockets, ie: phone, knife and keys go together, smokes, lighter, pen and pencil together, wallet in back pocket, i always have to have a pen and a pencil with me, when i take a shower i always do everything in the same order, i can only eat scrambled eggs that i cook, i put my bracelets on and take them off in the same order all the time, and they stay piled in order that i put them on....
i guess i'm pretty crazy... surreal

All my shirts and jackets must have the front to the left when on clothes hangers.

I must always sleep with my feet facing south.

I have to get to 2000 post before the new year.

I have to have chapstick with me at all times. At work, in the gym, in the bathroom, wherever... all the time, every day (with the exception of in bed, of course). I also avoid stepping on cracks, and I color coordinate the fruit and veggies in my fridge.

... zoloft = good. wink

As for myself i must compuslively sabotage my own life via a complete inadequacy to complete any task or do anything that requires effort.
I'm what we in the business call a waste of space.

I enjoy chaos.

I am more obsessive than compulsive.

for instance, i absolutely cannot ever walk across a drain grate thing in the street. I am terrified that my keys are going to leap out of my pocket and fall down the drain leaving me locked out of car and home, forever destitute. I hold my keys so tight in my fist that I almost cut myself, and I walk about 10 feet wide of the drain so that my keys can't make the leap.

very silly.

Thecolor of the food I eat cannot match the color the plate. For example, rice doesn't look appetizing to me on a white plate.

My car keys must be in my hand in my jacket pocket before I close my car door. I have the same thing with making sure everything has to be in its right place on my person. Wallet, comb, pen all go in my inside coat pocket, my cell phone in left outer left pocket, keys and tissues in my outer right. There are a few other things that I do, but they're not jumping at me at this point... I always drive the same route to certain places, even if it's technically faster to get there another way, the only time I deviate is if something else is on the way.

I have a friend who carries his driver's license, bank card, and cash in various pockets in and around his person. No wallet, no discernable order to anything; needless to say, he loses a lot of things. I think I'll get him a wallet for Xmas.

Four olives, sixteen pistachios, twelve houseplants...etc.

I always get dressed in the same way, every day and undressed in reverse order. Unless someone else is doing the undressing. In which case I dont care.

I complsively check my back pocket to make sure my wallet it there every time I stand up, or go somewhere. I check it on my way out the door, before I sit down in my truck, when I get out of the truck, on my way into the store, when I pick something up I might want to buy, and right before I pay. My friends actually noticed this one day and told me about it. Now that I know I do it, it seems silly, but I've never lost my wallet nor forgotten it and been embarassed I oculdn't pay for something.

I also check my email about 15 times a day. Its terrible. Anytime I'm near a computer, right when I log on and right before I log off.

I like to eat things in pairs.

I like for all of my clothing to face the same direction in the closet. Even though tossing a sweater over a chair doesn't bug me at all.

I used coasters all the time, even on furniture that is total grabage (my headboard is old, faded, and has drink rings from the previous owner, and yet I won't put a soda can directly on it)

i dont think any of these are irrational, i think theyre neat. theyre ways youve adapted to make order of the world. i had a job where a magnetic keycard opened about 30 doors. you better believe my hand was always on my back pocket before i let a door close. I also write down everything i spend every day in a little journal, but that helps me udget and save.
when i was a kid, though, i used to eat lucky charms in order. all the wheat, then all the pink hearts, then all the orange moons, etc, just like the commercial said. that was a fun game.

I constantly wake up in the middle of the night and check to make sure that I set my alarm.

All my CD's are listed in alphabetical order by group then by when they were released.

I have to count each step as I walk up and down stairs.

If something is stacked (towels, books etc.) I have to count them all as I walk by.

I -have- to stop the Microwave at "0:05" or "0:23" seconds remaining. I am not too sure why, but it is a must.

As well, if a clock shows any numbers which are duplicate, IE. "1:11", "3:33", etc. I must say the time out loud.

I think I am crazy. blackeyed
