For the smokers...

so i was thinking back to when i was 15 *wow...and that was a long time ago* and a question came to mind.... to all the smokers out there;

how did ya'all decide on which brand to smoke!??

the first brand I ever tried was Lucky Strike Filtered.

I haven't steered from them (I smoke Lucky Strike Lights now) since, although when I'm low on money (those smokes are not only incredibly rare but $4 a pack in NORTH CAROLINA) I'm known to smoke Camel Turkish Silvers and Parliament Lights.

i started with Silk Cut in England cus it's what my friends smoked.

when i moved to the US at 13 i HAD to try to all american Marlboro reds (not that we couldnt get them in England, but they're obviously cheaper here and i felt it somewhat symbolic)

around 15 or 16 i pussied out and went to Marlboro lights. been smoking them ever since (with a semester or two on marlboro milds when i did a lot of drugs in college )

Back in those halcyon days, I worked in a newsagent, where I was able to blag loads and loads of fags. Unfortunately my peer group also knew this, and as a consequence, I would have smokes nicked off me all day. Then I discovered that if I smoke Marlboro, I would be left alone. After that, I went onto the Camels, the Gaulois and the Citanes. Now, whenever I smoke straight cigarettes, I always go for the brand that'll rip my throat out.

It was a survival instinct I suppose.

i started on Marlboro's because that's what i stole from my mom... but occasionally i am found with camels because they are constantly doing the buy one get one packs...

if i had a choice its Gauloises.... cause silly me read way too much William Gibson when i was young and he mentions them constantly... that and they actually taste really damn good

When I started I bought what everyone else buys, du maurier or players. Now that I've developed preferences, it's Gauloise or Winstons.

I tried a few brands. I started with Dunhill reds because I was pissed off at my job, and they were the most expensive cigarettes for me to steal. Then I tried a few others and settled on camel filters because I liked them best.

I started smoking to kill myself because I was suicidal, and didn't have the balls to cut my wrists (I know it's pathetic). Now though I enjoy smoking, and I figure all you fuckers that don't are gonna get cancer from your head phones, your contacts, your soda pop, your vegan protien substitutes that are genetically modified, and so on, so I'll just keep smoking.

But anyway back to your question. I ONLY smoke ONE brand! I smoke Drum rolling tobacco. I picked up rolling when I hitched the country five years back, and I didn't like Top, and I hated the really good stuff like Jester, it was to smooth. I liked Drum cause it's the mix of the both really good quality, but I can still tell I'm smoking. Now I can't smoke anything else, and if I'm out of smokes, I don't smoke. If I bum a smoke from someone that smoke's Camels, Top, Spirit, whatever, I end up taking two drags and tossing it out.

I started smoking newports ( ) because that's what my older friends smoked. Now I smoke Camel Lights and to tell you the truth Im not really sure what made me start and stick with that brand

I think I started smoking Marlboro Lights when I was 16 or so because I heard that if you smoked one right after smoking grass, you got like (and I swear this was my thought process at the time) 40% MORE high.

I started smoking Marlboro Lights because a friend said they were a good cigarette to start with; that they were smooth. I smoked those for several years, until all my friends swiched to Camel Lights because they tasted better. They were right.

But I no longer smoke.

When I was in 6th grade I stole a pack of my father's Malboro Reds.
Then I stopped smoking because well. I was in 6th grade for goodness sakes.

Then when I was about 15 I started smoking "California Dreams" because the guy at the smoke shop would just give them to my best friend and me.

Now, I mostly smoke Camel Lights

I started smoking wretched gross DuMaurier ciggies, because everyone else was doing it. I then moved on to, and stuck with, Benson & Hedges Deluxe Ultra Lights for 7 years.

However, I don't smoke anymore.

But, I snort cocaine now so, it's a trade off, I guess.

I think the fucking verdict is in:

Most people on this site will smoke, or do smoke "Malboro Lights", or "Camel Lights".

I've been traveling this country and hanging out with punks/hippies/goths (whatever) since I was about fifteen. These are the two smokes most people of our generation suck down like their going out of style.

In my oppinion they both suck ass, but that doesn't keep people from smoking them.

I smoke but I don't think it's cool, I do it cause I want too, cause I quit all the drugs that were killing my quickly, and now it's my little bit of self destructive bahavior that I can still embrace while I attempt to grow up.

But don't, DON'T pick up a smoke just cause of some fucking thread on the internet that mentioned how good smoking could be. That's bullshit. Your stronger then that!!!

I started smoking my best freinds cigs when I was 16. Winston Ultra light 100's. YECH! I'm a marlboro girl now, used to be Marb lights but I really like the 27's...somewhere between a light and a full flavor.


I enjoy smoking, it's relaxing and boy do I need that. For all the people who say I'm killing myself...I say, if I live long enough for THIS to kill me, it will be an achievement considering the number of times I've dodged death in the last few years! So there, HA!

LOL, oh believe me, I am SO not going to pick up a cigarette and light up just because of some random reference to smoking. If that's the way it'd work, I wouldn't get through one day, would I? Thanks for the support, however; that's really nice of you!

i like marlboro lights & lucky strike lights, though im usually smoking marlboro, because lucky strikes are hard to find around here.
