I love Amazon.com, I really do. I buy so much stuff used from there all the time. I mean $0.44 for a book you just can't go wrong.

But the price of shipping is fucking killing me!!

I bought 9 items today, my grand total for the 9 items came to $14.26! So how in the hell is my grand total something like $45!!!! 30 bucks just for fucking shipping that's insane. Granted I am saving money in the long run, by getting these items used and not paying full price. And if I paid full price then Amazon has free shipping. So really I shouldn't complain.

I just had to have a little rant fest. blush

Does anyone know of any good places like Amazon.com that doesn't charge you an assload for shipping?

Depends on what you are buying. I often get my DVDs from deepdiscountdvd.com They have free shipping, no tax, and often severely discounted prices. On the down side, the free shipping option can take a couple of weeks.

I have my wishlist set up for the items I obviously wish to have. I check the list about once a week and when I see items that are under at least 2 bucks I buy them. I always buy used. I have never had a problem. And to be honest half the time when it says the item, if it be a book or a DVD or whatever, is in good condition I get it and I think it's in great condition. So I have always been a happy customer. It's just the shipping prices that get me a little bummed.

A lot of time I price shop for shipping more than the price of the actual product.

i know from a sellers perspective it costs me less, so im sure that somehow must equate to cheaper for the buyer, but ive never actually compared shipping rates.

Can't you just wait untill you have 25$ of stuff to buy from amazon, and then they ship it for free?

It's called super saver shipping or something.

Doesn't count when you're buying used.

When you are buying multiple items used they are most likely coming for a number of retailers. If you buy three items you are paying for shipping 3 times from three different locations.

A lot of shippers hide the price of the item in the shipping. Amazon doesn't moderate their shipping prices, so they just advertise a lower cost of item, and raise the price of their shipping, making you think you paid less.

The past three times I've tried Amazon, they've taken over two months to ship my items. They repeatedly changed shipping dates on me, but never contacted me to let me know what was going on. I wasn't looking for particularly uncommon items. I waited it out because the free shipping was a bargain, but I'm wary of using them again. Anyone else have similar problems??

Lots of individual sellers are willing to negotiate a discount if you buy enough from them; the tricky part is finding everything you need from one individual. For books, I go with Powell's now. Don't know how the shipping compares, but I don't mind so much if I'm paying them more because they kick ass.

The shipping for books is $3.49. The shipping on a CD or DVD is $2.49.

*sigh*

Still gets me, but it won't stop me from ordering more stuff I don't need. love
