Is there anything better than Red ine in the world of enogastronomy?I guess not.
I DO love spirits and beer, but Red Wine is the perfect drink.

It's HARD to find something that compares the strenght and taste of Brunello di montalcino.

But it's not necessary to spend 50 € on a bottle of wine, you can get great pleasure from cheaper wines like Chianti,Barbera or Negramaro, not to mentione the top quality of Sassicaia,or the French wines from Bordeaux.

Great are also Portoguese wines, with an higher alcoholic percentage and more strong, but sweet and juicy.

I've heard of good californian Wines that have been producted in the latest years and are growing in quality,I hope they'll reach a good standard as soon as possible. tongue

I'm a fan of the 2001 Marechal Foch from Kittling Ridge is a nice table wine. not uber or anything but it's a decent wine.

I prefer Ontario Reds... and mostly Noir's Baco and Pinot specificly

I'm a big fan of Reds. But I have a faily simple palette

For the record there are some fine california wines.
And I've had some great pinot noirs from oregon.

And, the smallest amount of local pride that I have forces me to point out that there are some pretty good wines that come from here on long island.

I can go for almost any of the Oregon or French pinot noirs. Agree about the Brunello (with food). Most of the California wines are overhyped and overpriced, although some high-end ones ... way too high end, if y'ask me, thanks to Napa/Sonoma marketing and consumer gullibility! ... are OK.

Somebody needs to start a white wine appreciation thread, too. smile

I ain't no high-class broad--I will drink Yellow Tail or Charles Shaw and some of that fancy-schmancy expensive stuff with equal aplomb.

Of course,Brunello needs a good fellow.

It can be good food or a good cigar, but it never comes alone.

Yeah, I'm a white wine guy myself. I generally find that CA whites are better than CA reds. Of course, I practically grew up on Livermore Valley chards and Sauvingon Blancs and those tend to be really dry and oaky. So my tastes are skewed towards that.

Me too...unless it's pink, and the word "house" or "home" is in the name of the manufacturer.
