What's on your computer desk?

...besides your computer, of course, inspired by the what do you keep by your bed thread.

Mine: stereo receiver, dvd player, vcr, empty tissue box, used kleenex (seriously for my nose), handkerchief, bottle of ketchup, empty altoids gum tins, stacks and stacks of burned CDs and DVDs on every flat surface, the salt shaker, an empty soda can, headphones, a pound puppy doll my wife gave me, my mug, and an empty microwavable Chef Boyardee's bowl.

My wife's is much cooler.

Scissors, my ID and credit card, lotion, my rings, trileptal, CDs, a few pens, a few bills, winning scratch-off ($1!!!), candle, mosque-shaped alarm clock my dad brough me from the UAE, the Aeneid (in Latin--I'm old school, yo), speakers, phone, comb, Tabasco bottle (I often eat here; I pretty much have one for every room).

*deep breath* Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Original Nintendo, Cthulhu hand puppet, a bowl of chocolate chips, 2 lamps, a big jug of water (with lemon), a dirty plate, empty coke can, cable bill, Burt's Bees lipstick, massage oil, pens, highlighters, crochet hook, tonail clippers, a card recently sent to me from a friend, Japanese tea set, duct tape, blue folder, several cds, stamp set, loose powder, sharpies, Badger Balm, cell phone cover (where is that phone, anyway?), snickers wrapper, printer, Altoids gum, a pendulum, amethyst stone, and an un-used instead femanine product.

Yes we do, and now I know where all my altoids gum went.

There is alot of junk on my desk including but not limited to 4 cameras lots of pen and a glass of sweet tea......

They're not very filling, really.

On the desk itself: stacks of books and CDs, scanner, NES ( ♥ ), perfume, marshmallow-flavored shimmer powder, nail polishes, errant art supplies, and Windex.

Oh crap. What's NOT on the desk, on it, under it, the desk is more a wastepaper basket with drawers on which the computer happens to rest!

Let's see, 20th anniversary Rennaisance Faire Mug, filled with pens, empty cig packs, plate, mug, spoon, two ashtrays, spree, LOTS of papers, my manuscripts in various states of disuse, geneaology stuff, bottle tops from pepsi bottles(we were trying to win an x-box 360) cd's, cook books, game magazines, computer game boxes, web cam, microphone, digi-camera, a glow worm and every so often one of the cats.

.... and now my cat.

empty beer bottles, a beanie, a can cozie, an REI magazine, and stacks of UPS drop-ship receipts

champagne glass. magazine. book (a clash of kings by george r.r. martin). pamphlet on vasectomy...it's fucking hilarious (because of the dumb drawings, i mean...and no, they are not anatomical drawings). phone. glasses. pen. lipgloss. coupon for the cat food my kitties eat. show poster used as mousepad. empty pill packet. two ticket stubs to hp. wallet. purse. safety pin. notepad. lamp.

burnt cds, pins, patches, tex-mex popcorn seasoning, a Dominican clay statue, wristbands, a flosser, nail clippers, an empty can of orange pop, an empty glass, a torn shirt tag, nail polish, a dvd remote, a rubber chicken, random scraps of paper with writing on them, Spiderman (x2), cd-roms, pens, a mechanical pencil, a sharpie, a dry-erase marker, my piercings jewelry box, McDonalds Monopoly pieces, 'Glacier' scented pit-stick, a phone jack, batteries, my old license, pink pagemarking post-its, a temporary health record, a memory card case, and a screw-in hook.

And I have tiny little Ikea desk. Yeesh.

If you really want to read about the mess that I work in, read on. Bear in mind, this is only the desk itself, not the surrounding territories (each of which is lovingly stocked with a similar array of detritus)....


(Each group is listed from left to right, omitting actual computer hardware.)


On the keyboard drawer (slides out from desk, has its own private constellation of junk):
Doll-sized glasses, pencils, plastic dinosaurs, earplugs (to ignore noisy neighbors' frequent revels), business cards, pens, calculator, scraps of paper with notes on them.

Front row (stuff near the front of the desk itself):
Little plastic frogs, rings, thermometer (showing, incidentally, that it is FIERY HOT in here), pencils and pens, stack of DVDs, art erasers, dice, can of refreshing cold beverage (in an insulating holder), pencil sharpener, video game cartridges.

Second row (stuff farther back):
Plastic ballerina figurine (acting as a terrain marker for where a spindle of CDs is buried), spare drink holder (just in case I have two cans out at once, I guess), spare battery cover for camera gear, twist-tie, elastic band of some sort, lapel pins suggesting membership in fictitious organizations, Post-It pad, sheets of stickers, buttons from clothing that I don't recognize, a doll.

Stuff at the back:
Manila folder, ink pad (like for fingerprints or rubber stamps), headband, used sticky notes, miscellaneous papers and notes, a photo of someone whom I miss, crayons, the AC adapter to some unknown electronic device.

Underneath (on top of computer itself, and on the shelf underneath the keyboard drawer):
Another doll, several bookmarks, comic books, a bra that actually isn't even mine, an architect's scale, more CDs and DVDs, Nintendo DS, packets of tissues, a tube of red glitter, some empty CD cases, AC adapters for my phone and DS, receipts for recently purchased goods.


Actually, I left off a lot of stuff because the lists were just too long; these were merely the highlights, folks. Really and truly.

game controller, Scanner, monitor, countless DVDs and CDs (blank and used), a mousepad that's in the shape of a big red foot that I lifted from somewhre, a mouse, two speakers, an ugly slipcase for CDs, a wacom pen and tablet, a mouse accessory for that, an empty bag of chips for...I dunno, luck, a bunch of magazines, and a button that a friend of mine made.

Yuk. I need freakin' shelves in this place.

a dvd case, micron drawing pens, my glasses, some makeup, lots of earrings, random sharpies, work schedules, pay stubs, a note from my mom, floss and toothbrush from the dentist the other day, hospital bracelet, coupons, postcards from the college i was briefly considering applying to, Living Dead Dolls pencil sharpener, a regular Living Dead Doll, a couple more dolls in varying stages of customization, volume 5 of Achewood (personalized by Onstad), hair clips, blank cds, Little Apple Doll story books.
