I had a friend that went by a couple of aliases over the years. I could only ever come up with variations of names in my family, which wouldn't really help with the witness protection program, etc. It's not like I'd ever want to change my name unless I had a really compelling reason to do so.
I can understand not wanting a new last name. When my wife and I got married, she asked for my input. I said there was no way I was changing or hyphenating my name, and I completely understood if she made the same choice. As she didn't feel a strong connection to her father's name, she took mine. Shortly thereafter, a friend asked if she was going to be a modern woman or take my name. She simply replied, "Both." I lurve her.
I love my names I am named after two great-grandmothers (Catarina) and a Aunt (Ana). My name fits me like a glove and i would never change it
In America i allways had trouble with my complete name because it has 4 surnames. So when i got married to an american they wouldn't let me keep my surnames, i had to change them to only one surname. I think my new surname is allright but i only like it because it means i love my husband, i hate that it has nothing to do with my heritage or family or anything. When i go back to Portugal i am going to try to have all my names back plus my new surname. I hate three name names, especially because nobody keeps their mothers name. Like your mother is not important! Bahhh
well, I love and hate my first name. Hate only because when I was little and my mom was being mean she told me why she named me it. I don't know if it's true (many things she has told me I have found to not be) but its stuck with me. I love it just cuz it's so me I hate my last name, can't wait til it gets changed..but I love it cuz it's connection with my father in some way(we don't have many) I've never thought about my middle name... hmmm
