Ondi Timoner is the director of the documentary DiG! This amazing documentary is about the rock bands The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols, and the friendship/rivalry between their respective founders, Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor.

Check out the official site for DiG!

It's a shame Anton had his finger on the self-destruct button all the time. I thought there music was more accomplished than the Dandies.

Anyway, the film is good. I bought it on R1 DVD a couple of months ago. Of course it's funny to watch Anton kickoff at virtually every gig but it was also tragic to see him throw every opportunity down the drain.

I finally got around to seeing this film this week. Its hard to believe that Anton was any more of a dick than the final cut showed him up to be, but it was a great movie nonetheless, if only to mock the high pretension of each frontman. David LaChapelle's anti-Dandys rant was particularly enjoyable. That said, I felt really sorry for Joel, who had a great acerbic, charming persona, and whose lament that he'd wasted four years of his life for nothing had real pathos. I wonder what he's up to now?

I really enjoyed Dig, which had some killer Spinal Tap-esque lines delivered with absolute sincerity: "You broke my fucking Sitar, motherfucker!"
