I don't think it's entirely gender-based, as I've known a few women with something approaching my temperature comfort range, but most of the women I've known, big or small, are cold at temperatures where I'm uncomfortably hot.
i'm just spazzy. i can't stand it when it's hot in the house (it makes me fussy), but when it gets too cold, i shiver and my nose runs... it's been like, 106 degrees lately where i'm at, and we have the air on so i'm semi-cranky during the day (if i get sweaty), and by the time we go to bed, i'm freezing... yeah, and now i have a cold. haha
Still have this problem, only now COMPANY POLICY is 78 MOTHERFUCKING DEGREES. Fuuuucck. Luckily I work at night, by myself, so I just crank it down when I'm alone and turn it back up before the boss/anyone else comes in.
It goes beyond comfort. I suppose that if the apocalypse were to come I'd swiftly get over this (or die), but right now I'm so conditioned (heh) to air conditioning that if I get too hot I literally first start to feel like I'm having trouble breathing, then I start to itch all over which leads to a mini panic attack. Sorry, my panic attack/can't breathe/itching all over trumps your "ooh my hands are cold"!
At my house we currently have a thermostat war between me/my wife and our roommate. I turn it down to 70 every chance I get and she turns it back up to 76. Not because she's not hot. No. BECAUSE SHE'S CHEAP AND JUST BOUGHT A CAR. Listen lady it's not my fault you suddenly have a car payment now. I've had a car payment for years! But when I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO WIPE MY ASS EVERY FIVE MINUTES BECAUSE THERE IS SWEAT RUNNING DOWN THE CRACK OF MY ASS IN MY OWN HOUSE WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
I used to walk around in shorts and a t'shirt inside during the middle of Canadian winter because my Mom would crank the thermostat to the stratosphere. She was genuinely cold though, you´d touch her hands and they´d be like ice.
I'm warm blooded. Anything above 70 and I start to sweat. If I'm working hard, I'll be perfectly comfortable wearing a T-shirt in 30 or 40 degree weather.
That being said, my AC usually stays off unless it gets really uncomfortable. It was 93 and humid today, so I decided to baby myself and set the AC to 85.
