Does anyone have any recommendations on a good face cleanser that works the best but does the least damage?

I know each person has different types of skin but basically I have trouble cleaning the pours on my nose and just general cleansing of the rest of my face before I apply after shave and it seals everything up...

Isn't there a group for stuff like this? I tried to find it this morning but to no avail.
I fail at the search function. blackeyed

thnx.

OK, to make things more interesting;

If you like your face, pimp it and tell what you use if anything to keep it ship shape:

I use regular liquid hand soap, but obviously I wouldn't be asking if it worked very well.

*If any of this sound stupid I blame Russia for making Stolichnaya Vanil ARRR!!!

Burt's Bees Tomato Soap is the shit. Too bad I'm out of it and I'm using some crap that made my face break out. Well, it was either that or the fact that I buried my face in a bowl full of Jello shots on Saturday.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser. You don't want anything too harsh (which Clearasil is). Honestly, the Aveeno is the best cleanser I have ever, ever used. We do talk about these things in the Makeup - Beauty group. Don't be scared off by its girliness. If you want to hear the Aveeno praises, go to this thread!

Oooh that sounds good, I use the aveeno bath (oatmeal bath thingy) when I have an allergic reaction (OT: I'm allergic to too much acetaminophen) and get hives on my legs. I had no idea they made other stuff! ooo aaa

I like Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Liquid soap. Leaves your face all icy and clean feeling.

I don't really have oily skin anymore, drinking water and cutting sugar, and greasy food out of my diet did most of that. And not really much acne bacteria on my face either, just hard to clean pores.
Do you find it helps with that general problem?

I can look too close in the mirror and see the dirt in my pores, this is either normal or I have some sort of facial OCD/neurosis tongue

You might be slightly OCD about it. I almost never break out, but i feel like the Tomato soap leaves my face feeling fresher. I can't really explain why though. As far as clean....I've never looked deeply enough into my pores to see if they are dirty.

spectro derm

you can find it at most drugstores. my dermatologist actually DID reccommend it to me, i'm not just spouting the shit from the commercial!! i have acne prone skin (hot i know) but its also dry. this stuff cleanses like awesomesauce but doesn't dry out skin at all (get the moisturizing cleanser for sensitive skin). all it does is wash away surface bacteria love

Paul Mitchel (sp?) tea tree shampoo... sounds kind of weird, but it works DAMNED good. When I was like 16 I had bad acne, tried everything from clearasil to witch hazel, and umpteen different prescription creams and pills and things, until finally a hair stylist recommended I tried it. Acne cleared up within weeks.

Everyone generally thinks I'm nuts when I tell them this, but it worked for me, and I still use it when I can find it.

Ack - the St Ives Apricot Cleanser is really bad for your skin. It literally tears it up. Anything that harsh is basically just giving your face a lot of little cuts, which is really bad. Use something milder for an exfoliant (like something with oatmeal). Trust me, in the long run, your skin will be soooo much happier (and prettier and softer and healthier and...non-cut up).

I walk down to the old folks home and rub my face on those geezers bed sores. Hell, geezer sores cure most everything. I had a callus on the palm of my hand you could shave a baby with, now look at it, its all smooth and soft like a puppies smelly belly.
