if im in the middle of a conversation, at a gas station for example, im not going to stop talking to pay a counter attendant. i dont care if they think im rude. im not there to make friends, im there to pay for my gas. they dont need to speak to me. just take my money and hand back my change. end of our interaction.
of course this doesnt apply to all situations.

You know I love you, Linz. But I'm going to have to agree with Elijah on this one. If I'm talking on my phone, I'll stay on it if I'm paying for gas or something... I will usually move the phone away from my mouth for a second to say 'thanks' before I walk out... and I'm not throwing money at anyone or anything, but yeah, I don't hang up the phone for a 30-second interaction with someone.

I've worked a register before, and it never bothered me when people would be on their phones while checking out, so I guess that's why I don't see it as a huge deal.

I just hate that damn ear piece where I can't tell if you're on the phone or just a raving lunatic. I must say that fucking walkie-talkie feature drives me nuts! mad

Well, sir, for your information, I am a raving lunatic, thank you very much.

i often wonder why the loud talking people don't have broken nose bandages on their faces. i am not a 'punch you in the face' kind of person because i would get my ass kicked, but I am always amazed that the loud talking people somehow seem to avoid the 'punch you in the face' people

I would imagine it's because they're the same people. Or maybe I'm back on the dust?

i love you too cuz your a hot bad ass but i know if you came into my store talking on your phone i wouldn't serve you (actually YOU i probably would but then i'd be sad because you didn't talk to me...). i refuse to serve anyone who comes up to me on their phones. it seems like if someone is aware they are about to have to go into a store to pay for anything for whatever reason they would be cognizant enough to call someone back or certainly not make a phone call moments beforehand. what if the cashier only have quaters for change or what if blahbityblahblah. there are alot of things that could happen where the person would need to interact with you. maybe i'm just thin-skinned but it really gets to me when people don't acknowledge me in those circumstances and i make sure i show the same courtesty to people as i would hope they would show to me.

not just people are the problem, but the acceptance of negative and selfish behavior is the real problem. when you ask someone to not talk on the phone ( say at a bank line or a gas station - which is a serious fucking hazard due to gas pumps blowing up beacuse of electrical shortages caused by cell phones) they get offended and pissed off at you instead of having the self awarness to admit they are being fucking rude and disrespectful to everyone around mad

Uh...there is no risk to gas pumps exploding due to cell phones. Ever watch Mythbusters?

I don't watch the show, but I do revel in using my cell phone at the gas pump, because that ring ring... BLAMMMO! shit just ain't happening. Simple static electricity can ignite gas fumes however, so don't go rubbing balloons on your head or anything.

Well it's your right not to serve someone who you feel is being rude to you by talking on their phone, and I totally respect that.

Also, I would totally get off of my phone if I walked up to a register and saw you standing there. I'm sure my boyfriend would understand when I hung up on him without even saying goodbye, to flirt with you. wink

I didn't expect people to hang up; just saying, "Hold on a second," to their friend would have been enough. There were many times I had to interact with them for some reason, and waiting for them to say, "*into phone* Hold on... *to me* what?" six times REALLY got on my nerves.

Same goes for headphones. I see people come into the gym with em blaring. If you are going to interact with a human being it is only polite to take them off...or at least pause you music. The front desk guy gets so annoyed by this...I notice the people that do this tend to be rude in general though.

That damned walkie-talkie thing is the most annoying thing in existance. And they cause cancer, so next time you see someone walking around obliviously with a phone surgically attached to the side of thier head, just think of that happy little nugget.

i've never had a cell phone and don't want one.
