Around here it seems like this kind of "old school" punk look is pretty popular. I have to admit, the look is pretty cool, but all these kids dressed up that way are total poseurs, just a few months ago they were listening to Slipknot and similarly lame stuff, and they never go to actual punk shows. Also they don't even listen to all the bands they wear on their t-shirts, they mainly listen to emo. I think they all just started dressing like because those skateboarding magazines have fashion columns or something. It's fucked up, though, becasue you look at them and you think "wow, those kids must listen to nothing but JFA and DRI and shit," but in reality they're really into stuff like Senses Fail.
I haven't really noticed many kids dressing like Goths lately, of course in Indiana we're usually a few years behind all the trends. I was listening to Sisters of Mercy a few seconds ago and I have a Siouxsie Sioux poster right behind me, does that make me a Goth? Probably not because I've got an Oi! the Album poster right in front of me and I'm listening to the Skatalites now and wearing a Toasters shirt. When's ska going to be popular again?
