George Takei. Or as the kids might type, George Teh-Geigh.

No disrespect intended.

Good for him, and yeah, I hope the rest of his years are happy and backlash free.

I can't wait for the day when stuff like this doesn't become news either here or on the front page of CNN. He just shows up with his boyfriend to some premiere and the reaction is just 'meh'.

When homosexuals are accepted both in law and by our society, it won't be news. In the meantime, things like this help make them accepted.

And actually, compared to, say, 10-to-20 years ago, this has generated relatively little reaction. A man who is or has been in the public eye can come out of the closet now with comparatively little threat to his career, and without most people's opinions of him changing dramatically.

I had no idea. But good for him.

BTW, to be a little pedantic: "Equus" was written by Peter Schaffer; "Martin Dysart" is the name of the psychiatrist character in the play. (Just in case anyone cares.)

Also, it's not "new." At all. It was first performed in the 70s, I believe.

The UK newspaper "The Sun" had it's usual sensationalistic approach to this story. I'd see if a link was available, but that paper disgusts me in more ways than I ever thought possible.

So awesome. Good for George.

Like others have said, this is the kind of thing that will contribute to the long term development of equality in our society.

Ooooh, I didn't realize that only one reference per thread is allowed. I promise to never violate this most sacred rule again, master of the internet.
