Dozens of great books to choose from, none of which can find a backer. Well, a couple of good books and some mediocre one. And what do they pick? ERAGON. And is it failing pathetically to attract anyone to the project? JEREMY IRONS AND JOHN FUCKING MALKOVICH.
Why is there nobody in the room with me?
Why is there nobody I can punch?
Eragon is a pretty shitty piece of writing (I don't want to offend anyone who likes the books, but I am going to be blunt in this post). And the fact that a lot of people seem impressed with Paolini's "conlangs" (which, although not as bad as Robert Jordan's, still seem to suck) engender's quite a bit of resentment. For my part, I feel that Eragon does not deserve to be made into a movie. As far as I'm concerned it's just a bunch of cliches after cliches after cliches, in a cliched writing style, in a cliched plot framework.
