Movies that Fucked You Up as a Kid

Anything by David Lynch still fucks me up.

The end of Fantasia. I still don't think I've actually seen it right up to the end. I always had to switch it off when it got all dark after the nice flying ponies.

Earthquake -- yeah, '70s disaster flicks ruined me -- I was scared of falling powerlines for years
Time Bandits -- cuz it's just freaky.
Logan's Run -- State sponsored murder anyone?
Audrey Rose -- Children in burning cars being summoned from the afterlife, plus I realized I had a crush on Anthony Hopkins

It gave me serious existential angst from, like, age 9 - 15.

my dad thought the exorcist would be a fun movie for me to watch when I was about 11....but I have to say that The Secret of Nimh definitely creeped me out more

not that it scared me.....it just deeply affected me in some creepy way.

Hellraiser, I saw that one when I was very young... And necromantic.... I hired it by accident, thinking that it was a gore movie

Now, I love almost all of the takashi miike movies, known from Ichi The killer ( super movie) and audition, his movies still fuck me up

this is gonna sound really wicked but, When I was around ten, I watched the The Shining and it didnt really scare me, but then about a week later I saw ET and I couldnt sleep for a week, up to this day I cant watch ET like many others have already said.

The movie Dreamscape had this one dream sequence featuring a nuclear strike on a city. Afterwards, a POV shot follows a moaning sound through the streets, and the moaning increases in volume until the shot stops in front of a closed door. The door bursts open and a group of mutant nuclear fallout children scream while reaching for the camera. I fucking hated that scene.

yes ..that was a long time ago and after that I knew movies were "just pretend" and havn't been scared by one since.

Amityville 2, it's the only movie I've never been able to watch all the way through.

This one is just daft though, I watched the movie 'House' when I was about 10 and it scared the living piss out of me. I rewatched it recently and realised exactly how terrible it truly is.

Having read the thread I was reminded of movies that killed me..

The Gate and Radio Flyer messed me up so bad as a kid!

Forgot one...

Bette's makeup freaked me the fuck out...Still gives me the creeps.

The labyrinth is still one of my favorite movies, as is the dark crystal, the last unicorn, the secret of nihm, return to Oz, and a whole bunch of other movies that other people have listed here. My grandma was always letting me watch "darker" childrens movies, I think that heavily influenced my creative and artistic side.

The only movies that I thnk really fucked me up as a kid(even though looking back on it now, it's hilarously bad) were killer Klowns from Outer Space, IT(Yes, clowns still freak me out.), and the exorcist(my moms mom let me watch it, alone, when I was 8).

It's campy and ridiculous. But it was just too much for my 9-year old brain to take at the time.

I know why!! The whole "brother" fucking the "sister" scene.... as a kid that just didn't sit well with me, and messed me up!!

The Golden Child put me off of oatmeal for a while.
