A spinoff thread from this post by xRedDan, regarding a proposed Where the Wild Things Are movie:

This is totally going to be one of those movies that the eight year olds of today will be talking about how it fucked them up as kids when they're twenty. AWESOME.

What movies totally fucked you up as a kid?

My top five:
Return to OZ
Watership Down
The Secert of Nimh
Heavy Metal
Natural Born Killers

Those last two were courtesy of my uncle, when I was about twelve. His Hustlers were also my first porno magazines. eeek Yoiks!

Haha. Amazing. I haven't seen most of these movies since I was about five, so they're probably pretty embarassing now, but whatever. I think everything creeped me out a little when I was that young.

Some of mine were:

-The Wizard of Oz
-The Secret of Nimh (but I loved it, and own it today)
-Alice in Wonderland
-Nightmare On Elm Street (thanks to my babysitter)
-Fire in the Sky (because it was a "true" story, I was shitting my 11 year old pants for, like, a year and a half)

There were a lot more, but I just can't think of them right now.

Oh LORD. Fox made the mistake of broadcasting that one night and I made the mistake of watching it. I was a high strung 10 year old...

Tales From The Hood

Serial Mom

Raise the Red Lantern

Pee Wee's Big Adventure

These movies would probably be super-rad if I saw them now. I can't believe my mom took me to see Serial Mom when it first came out in theaters...

Hmm...

-IT (still fucks with my head!)

-A Fish Called Wanda (and I really don't know why)

-Fire in the Sky (the scene with the mucus not only made me throw up, but it scared me to my core!)

-Some movie I never actually watched, but had a picture of an evil monster coming out of a toilet!!

-Bambi (the fucking mother dies...come on!)

And that's all I can really think of off the top of my head.

A lot of people have been saying "Fire in the Sky" and I concur. Though I never actually saw it. I saw the trailer on TV and it fucked me up.

This random horror movie. The plot details and specifics are lost to me, but I remember some details:

Featured mostly kids and street urchins, like 1980's horror movies liked to do.

Took place in a subdivision or new housing area.

There was a hole in the backyard which somehow connected to a vague evil.

During the insane climax in the home the parents were either dead or at a dinner party.

There was a huge giant unearthed through the house floor.

The main character hid in the closet at one point.

The huge beast had tiny T-Rex arms on his shoulders.

Needless to say, I have never been the same.

Not the entire movie, but the boat scene in Willy Wonka.

Even as a kid I was all ''Come on. What the fuck."

I had nightmares for 5 years after I watched ET for the first time. There was another alien movie.. it was SUPPOSED to be cute.. but hello? fucked me up.. it was called Mac and Me.. fucked up little bug-eyed, fat-bellied scared-the-shit-out-of-me aliens!

Bambi sucked too.

Between the alcohol and the Jim Crow-crows, it's a wonder they still sell that movie.

God, I love that movie. Top three Disney animated films: Dumbo, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty
