Seriously, who gives a damn. They make crappy, relatively low priced food, and everybody knows this.
If you want a gourmet dinner, you go to a fancy restaurant.
You want a greasy burger, you go to McDonalds.
Who cares? They aren't going to gain new customers with some daft "we are so healthy!" campaign, and the people who eat their food aren't bothered what's in it in the first place.
Read Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation. Also read articles by this guy, David Auerbach, [ http://www.indyweek.com/durham/authors/davidauerbach.html ] and you will have a good understanding of where the food industry has been, and where it is going. This is not in response to any one post, but this is to ALL of you reading this stuff. Good points have already been made by most of you.

actually comparing the same type of product from two sources?
yeah...okay
you go on thinking that
at least I got it to apples vs apples
The point from your side is null and void if you talk apples and oranges. Why don't we talk bicycles vs. motorcycles...that is what you were trying to do. When it should have been brand a of bike vs brand b of bike
how much was your time worth again?
exactlyyyyyyyyyyyy....you never answered twice already.
Who is chasing the straw man here? Not me...I am the one who got two products on the same level. It wasn't you or cash.
I clearly pointed out that food source of same type from placement a is equal to food from placement b and was the same price if not more at the grocery store. and if we chose placement c(at home) then time and how much that is worth comes into effect
It nullified your point...ohhhh right, we are talking how to make it cheaper and have the same levels of everything right? So, that was beans as the first option? I already eliminated that....next you came up with a backup which was.....pasta, and did you hear me argue? (even though it takes longer to make) nope...because I know a meal can be made that is of equal or higher quality for the same price....depends on who is shopping and what exactly they are buying on that one ( as there are different sauces and different pastas).
ohh...your other arguement? There is no defense for McD's other than personal preference? ummm...well I proved that wrong with the comparison shopping....go back to arguing with nothing to back it up other than personal preference...you seem to be so good at it. I systematically dismantled your arguement with points and facts...including making your own and how much you value your personal time at.
I don't even eat at McD's that is the funny thing...it really is....I just know that I am not a sheep and believe what the masses say. Just because they all jump off a bridge you going to as well thistle?
